VISUAL
The body is in excellent shape. The paint is not original and in good shape though there are a few duller spots (under the spoiler for example). Probably due to not being fully buffed out originally. There are a few paint chips which have been touched up as well as some small scrapes/wrinkles in the vinyl stripes (see pictures). It is very clean. The interior is original including having an AM radio (that works !). The seats are the original vinyl style and are in good shape. The carpet is newer and in excellent shape. There is some filler on the body on the doors and rear quarters that you can identify with a magnet but not visually. The rims and tires are perfect.
MECHANICAL
The odometer shows approximately 58,800 miles and the title notes "mileage not required" so it may very well be that the mileage is in excess of that number. I have clear title in hand. I have had the car gone over recently by a certified professional mechanic. At this time the following work was done.
  • Carburetor rebuild/tune
  • Replace Points/condenser with electronic ignition
  • Rear end seal / fluids replaced
  • New mufflers (2) to replace the Flowmasters that I found too loud.
The engine compartment is excellent. Everything looks new/reconditioned. There is no rust. The block and associated engine parts look great. According the the previous owner, the heads have hardened valve seats and it has a COMP Cams cam in it. The anti-roll bar has been upgraded with one that is thicker than stock and it has KYB shocks on it.
The frame is solid. There are some spots where the metal has been sandblasted and painted (see pictures). The trunk is solid but shows some light surface rust that looks to be recently painted over. Overall the car is very solid. Many new/newer parts in the steering, exhaust, linkages, shocks, etc.
NOTES/DISCLAIMERS
A $500 non-refundable deposit is required via paypal withing 72 hours.
This is not a $100k Barrett-Jackson concurs car. It has been driven and can be driven, but it is very clean. There are a few areas where the car can be improved (audio, various trim bits, period correct accessories like trunk mat, the odd rattle, etc) but this is being left to the next owner to shape to their vision.
There has been no appraisal done to the car. If you want one done at your expense I can make the car available. If you want it inspected at your expense, I can also make the car available for that. Any inspection or appraisal will be done at my location. There are quite a few of this generation of Mach 1 out there that are in worse shape for a bunch more money. No vinyl roof, no bad 70s colors, this is a nice example.
This car is being sold as-is where-is with no guarantees or warranties, either expressed or implied, for the vehicle. Payment will be in cash, cashiers check, money order or wire transfer HOWEVER the vehicle will NOT be turned over until such time as the funds clear. Ideally the transfer of title will be completed at my bank. If desired the bill of sale can be notarized at that time. If other arrangements are necessary the will need to be agreed upon prior to auction end.
This car is also being sold locally in the Chicago area so the listing may be ended at any time.
