1966 Ford Fairlane Squire Additional Info:
I bought this car after it was sitting in a Seattle garage since 1988, I'm the 3rd owner. The car needed to be brought back to life. This rare Sauterne Gold (more green than gold) wagon was parked due to a bad master-cylinder. If you have ever bought a car from long-term (improperly stored) storage then you'll understand my approach. I have done this type of drill many times. Before even turning over the engine I filled the cylinders with oil, then changed the oil. Next I replaced the water-pump, fuel-pump, fan-clutch, re-built the carb, changed the transmission fluid (cleaned the filter), replaced the voltage regulator, new battery, new hoses (flushed cooling system), cleaned and painted the engine, fixed a bunch of minor items, replaced cap, rotor, spark-plugs and wires, new points, condensor. Flushed the fuel tank, blew out the line...
The engine runs smooth and strong, no smoke..good performance. This Z-code engine is rated at 315 horsepower with a factory four barrel. The cruise-o-matic shifts smooth. The brake system has been overhauled to include the following: NOS master cylinder, new hoses, new wheel cylinders, new shoes all the way around. The drums did not need to be turned, a very fun project..
The car originally came from California as still has all the emission equipment. I have not tried the air-conditioning, although the clutch and compressor freely turns. I do not have the air-pump belt or the air cond belt installed. The original paint has plenty of patina and the woodgrain is faded, however nothing is missing from the exterior. The car obviously has surface rust on the body, but no "rust through", a few dings here and there.
The interior is outstanding, as well as the headliner. For the true enthusiast it comes with two extra wheels with some nos snow tires that are included at no extra cost. I've taken this rig as far as I can, and have spent many hours bringing back to roadworthy status. I have driven it about 40 miles with little to no trouble. The exhaust should be replaced with duals, the ancient Trendsetter bias ply tires will need to be replaced, the original paint? the wood-grain? the chrome? ..Thats up to you. This car is not hiding anything, no rust on the bottom, decorative rust on the top.
I don't know how many 1966 Fairlane Squire Z code 390's with CA emissions and air-conditioning where made, but there could not have been many. The car runs and drives well...the ash tray is missing from the dash, the heater core was looped years ago ( I have the in-line control actuator) ..the radio only plays oldies and ball games. This thing is 100% original and would make a great car for towing your travel trailer..you would have the fastest rig at the rallies. Study the pictures, and ask me any questions. I'm selling it to finance another deal. That's what I do...I seem to always fix all the hard stuff and spend hours in the garage after the kids are in bed working away on old stuff...only to sell it too soon and never enjoy it...maybe you will.

I've been asked some questions about the functionality of the car: The lights work, the turn-signals, the wipers (the washers have a new vacuum line although I have not tried them), the fan/heater blower works, all of the idiot lights work, the choke works, the brake lights work, the horn blows, the radio plays (the antenna is broken) but it still has good reception. I was asked about a picture without the air cleaner, so I deleted one of the body shots and added it...The car has no body or damage that I can tell and the paint appears..it is all original..thanks for all of the interest..I have new rear shock (the ones installed are fine, but for some reason I bought a new pair) and some extra parts that will be included...forgot the add the rear window is a crank and works fine and so does the magic gate door..there two extra green wheels that look brand new with the snow tires that are included as well...forgot to add the dash pad a has zero cracks or damage
