1979 Ford E-Series Van Chateau Standard Passenger Van 2-Door Additional Info:
1979 Ford E250 3/4 ton 2wd Van. This is a clean van that has been made to camp. The motor has $3500 put into it with approximately 5000 miles on professional rebuild. The motor is a balanced 351 Windsor with flat top hypereutectic pistons, an RV cam, dual roller timing chain, Weiland high rise dual plane intake manifold, Edelbrock 650 CFM carburetor, hooker headers and turbo mufflers. The heads are off a late 90s 351 Windsor and pocket ported. The transmission is a C6 with a Trans-Go shift kit and new heavy duty torque converter replaced when the engine was rebuilt. The differential has 3.73 gears for towing. (has original tow package "Trailer Special"). The van as a Carter electric fuel pump, Auto Meter mechanical gauges for water and oil pressure excellent for pulling. New radiator, master cylinder and battery. This is the Chateau which was the highest custom option you could get with the Club Wagon. You can see the rust in the pics, but it is mostly surface and not a major project to have painted. The dash and headliner have no cracks or tears. I have a aluminum ladder for the back. I have the corrected factory original wood console for the motor cover. I have all three of the original bench seats stored in a barn. Two were removed to build the custom Full size bed. The bed was custom built out of Unistrut $500 dollars worth of channel and fittings, and is way over built and made the lock supplies underneath. You can remove the bed and reinstall the factory bench seats to haul 9 passengers if needed. I have installed a brand new Sony CD player with four speakers and have run all the speaker wiring (concealed) to add more. The van is stock original with rear heat and AC. the rear heater works and i have an extra heater core for down the road needs. The compressor for the AC is gone and would need to revamped. This van is solid and has been taking care of well. It is fast for a van and can pull a trailer with no problems. They don't make Econoline's as stout as around these years. It is before everything turned to plastic and cost cutting over quality and pride. If you are looking for something to get out and travel, this is an inexpensive option and is easy to work on and find parts. I have a lot of extra parts to go with it. It was starting to build this back to original and do road trips but have taken on other "camp van project" that is more suitable to my wife. I would not hesitate to jump in this van and drive to Florida.
