1965 Mustang Fastback GT350
For sale is a real 1965 Mustang Fastback. This is a GT350 Tribute car. The body style of this car is so sleek it is hard to imagine that it is 52 years old. It is an absolute honor to own. Pictures do not convey the sensation of the car. The car had a 1975-76 sticker on it. It was only on the road for 10 years before I took possession.
The car runs and drives well. The engine has a high performance 289 code - C5AE-6015E which is fitting for a GT350. Many HiPO’s received this code as well as some standard 289’s. Engines that receive this code have added strength. It has gt40p heads on it and a new carburetor and intake. The transmission is a close ratio T10. Original Shelbys were outfitted with T10’s. The transmission goes into all the gears and I have not noticed any grinding. Not every time but once in a while it will float out of 2nd gear. That may be because I’m not familiar with the transmission because I’ve driven it less than 200 miles. The car is very aggressive sounding just like I like it. The new owner may want to go with a different exhaust system. I have looked for leaks under the engine and transmission and I have not yet found any.
The wheels are 14” Magnum 500s, the painted type. The carpet is new. The headliner is in good shape. The quarter vents seem to open and close properly. The interior seem to be complete and in fair to good condition for a 52 year old car.
The weather stripping is original and it seems to be in good shape. The doors close well. The rubber I saw in many parts of the car seems to be in good shape.
The glass is in good shape. The window regulators work properly. The front windshield has a wiper scratch and a small ding, but not noticeable enough to need replacement.
The body is decent but may have a few dings, rust, and bondo in a few places. I think the paint is fantastic but ithas a few flaws. The LeMans stripe and side stripes match. We have all seen Shelby’s where the stripe colors do not match (what an ugly sight).
The undercarriage seems sturdy, in my opinion. It has been coated with rust-preventive POR 15. Some amateur has patched the undercarriage in some places but it still has a few minor rust spots.
Previous owner had the front axle raised about 2 inches higher than normal with spacers in the springs. I like them like that but the new owner may want to take them out. When driving down the road the front axle is firm and does not drift to the right or left.
The lights work and the gas tank and sending unit are new. There are too many new parts in the car to list them all. The speedometer cable is in place but does not work. I noticed that when under hard acceleration there is a hint of smoke from the rear of the car.
The title is clear in my name. The VIN is 5F09C37xxxx. My phone number is as follows: (6 ONE 5-6 ONE 3-4 ONE 66). Call me with any questions. Also, I must talk to you before accepting your offer.
I am selling the car as is where is and the new owner is to make arrangements for shipping.
