1966 Ford Thunderbird Base Hardtop 2-Door Additional Info:
Original - Code Correct - Thunderbird Coupe Hardtop. Very Clean. No Rust. No bondo. Mileage is original and correct. To my knowledge, and by inspection, this vehicle has never been in a collision. I had the original transmission professionally rebuilt 3,000 miles ago. Works perfectly and I had the gear shift linkage / sag issue fixed, which is so common to these classic Fords. The Original 390 FE, 4V, runs like it should. I have replaced a number of gaskets, and seals to stop leaks, etc.. This big block 390 runs smooth and quiet. No smoke & Does Not burn oil. Everything under the hood is original or replaced with code correct Ford parts. Brakes and braking systems are in new condition. This T-Bird has 4-piston front disk brakes and rear drum brakes. The entire system has been restored. I Replaced the brake master cylinder and vacuum booster last November. The brake system was professionally flushed and new parts installed where needed. New Goodyear tires and new rear shocks were added in September 2016.. The Original Power steering pump was professionally rebuilt and the lines were replaced two months ago because of leaking seals. The P/S pump lines were replaced because were were there and I thought it was appropriate. The Original radiator has been replaced with a new high flow aluminum radiator. All lights, gauges, speedometer, vents, heat / defrost / fan controls, rear vent, etc. work as designed. The original radio is in place and works. The primary sound system is a Kenwood "under-seat" Bluetooth / Aux / etc./ remote controlled stereo. All windows in the car work smoothly, except passenger side wing window. It won't open. The trunk is clean. Has code correct spare tire and the original jack / lug wrench from 1966 is still mounted in the trunk. The interior is beautiful and it is original, the door panels and front seats show normal wear for a 51 year old automobile. Drivers side door panel has a small tear at the arm rest, which is covered with red plastic tape (see photos). There is a very slight indentation on the exterior passenger door. The indention is slight and hard to see. I tried to photograph it - see right side car photos - but it is hard to see. The rear taillight housings, gaskets, bulbs, and drivers side lens were replaced / restored last month. All 11 (9 taillight/turn and 2 reverse light) bulbs all work.
What it Needs: Dash clock works but stops after a minute or so. The clock needs to be removed / cleaned / reinstalled. Seats are original. Front seats could use new foam, rear seat is like new. The heater core was bypassed by the previous owner. assuming is leaks - I never checked, I have not needed a heater thus far. The remainder of the system / controls (fan, defrost, heat, etc..) all work normally. Sequential turn signals work but are temperamental. They blink, but not always sequentially. Still has original electro-mechanical switch, which works - you can hear it working with the trunk open; however, the contacts need to be serviced / cleaned, or the original unit replaced with a new electronic control unit. The original electro-mechanical switches are no longer available - However, they are serviceable / repairable if you want to keep the car "all original." If not, you can install a digital / electronic plug-and-play unit to replace the original switch. The radio antenna cable is not connected. With the Kenwood web access it did not seem necessary.
I bought this classic as a gift for my son in March 2015 and did all the work necessary to make it a safe and reliable daily driver for him. He has since joined the Army and needs a more economical vehicle, and with no garage available to him, he does not want the T-Bird sitting unprotected through the various seasons, etc.. while he is deployed; therefore, we are selling it. She's a reliable daily driver if you want. You could also easily transform her into a classic show car. Until this past December this car was his daily driver. It's most recent journey was my son driving it from Fort Campbell Kentucky to East Texas this past December when he came home on leave for Christmas. She ran like a dream. She has a fresh tune up and oil change. This T-Bird is structurally and mechanically sound! Please message me if you have any questions. This Thunderbird is advertised for sale locally and it is listed on other web sites as well. I will consider reasonable offers. No Trades.
