1965 Ford Mustang GT
“Arizona Barn Find”
Factory 4spd
Numbers Correct “A” Code
Up for auction is this very special ’65 Mustang GT 4-spd. This car was rescued from a storage garage where it had sat here in Arizona since 1982. It’s a 2 owner car originally from CA. This is a REAL DEAL Factory GT Car with all the correct GT original options. Besides being an “A” code car, it also has a manual trans. There may be a lot of coupes out there for sale but very few are REAL GT’s with a 4spd! This car has a very unique history. The first thing that is noticed is it has a “Thunderbolt” style hood. Under the hood is something I’ve never seen before on an early Mustang…There is a very cool and totally vintage TURBO setup on its 289. I know right…totally crazy! All of the hardware is cool 1960’s stuff including a Garrett AirResearch 60mm Turbo. To make it even more interesting, the motor was fitted with a vintage water injection system along with a unique system for cooling the fuel with ice. Up top is a very sizable Holley 4 BBL (think it’s a 750 cfm). I’m not a Turbo guru but apparently all this “Go Fast” hardware was very popular back in the 60’s. The motor does not run and no history on the inside of motor. Obviously the new owner would probably want and need to go through the motor since it hasn’t run for 35 years! Rumor has it that the stout Stang was very fast in its day. The exterior body is super solid and straight with no visible damage or dents and is 100% rust free! The interior is equally as nice and all original. It was not a factory A/C car but a period correct under dash A/C was installed and looks authentic in the car. Another cool feature is the Rallye Pack . It’s an 8000 grand tach but the right side is a boost gauge instead of a clock…the pack has a Shelby logo on it and from what I’ve been told, this pack was the model that Shelby installed on his Paxton Supercharged Shelby’s back in the day. The Coupe has a very sinister appearance and the stance is very appealing. The wheels are very nice and I’m told they are from a later model Ford and the tires are vintage BFG’s (GR 60-14) but very old and not road worthy.
This a great find and an honest GT. Restore it with the vintage turbo setup or take it back to stock but either way, it’s a complete, solid GT 4spd car without any rust or damage. Bid with confidence for this fairly priced blue chip investment.
The CLEAN Arizona title is notarized, signed and ready to go.
I will not be sorry if it doesn’t sell….I have no problems keeping it!
