1957 Ford Thunderbird Convertbile Additional Info:
This is a "1957" Prestige Classics Replica Thunderbird. The car was manufacturedin the late 80's and is title as a kit car, which it is. This car is a great cheap alternative to the much more expensive real thing. Not only that, these replica's run and drive better than the originals! The car has just over 16,000 miles on it since it's completion. The original owner was older and forced to sell due to health.
Paint & Body: The car is a ten footer, it has some normal scratches, etc, some of which I've tried to show in the photos. On the deck lid, there are some "bubbles" in the paint, looks like maybe they got trash in it when they sprayed it or something? It looks like rust, but obviously its not since the entire car is fiberglass. The bumpers are in good shape, not super shiny, but presentable. It's no show car, but I wouldn't be embarrassedat all to roll up at the local cruise night in it.
Both door windows are cracked and need replaced. The rear glass is also out of the top but is with the car.
The interior is in pretty nice shape and closely resemblesthe real thing. There is one small tear in the drivers seat. Also, part of the arm rest material is coming off of the drivers door.
The engine is a 302 out of a mid 80's Ford Mustang, but is dressed as a correct "thunderbird special". The car runs great, sounds good, has plenty of power to really move the light car around. The car had been sitting for a few years and had dead gas in it. We drained the tank and cleaned everything out and it runs and drives fine now. Probably wouldn't hurt to have the fuel filter changed after a few hundred miles as I'm sure it will catch some of the old gas residue that didn't get out.
The underside of the hood has a broken place in it where the mold has came apart. It just needs to be glued back together or patched with some fiberglass. The hood struts could also use replacing. The car has a brand new interstate battery in it.
The car has rack and pinion steering, holds to the road good, handles great.
I've tried to describe the car to the best of my ability. But please feel free to come look at it yourself before bidding. I am two hours from Greenville, two hours from Atlanta, three hours from Charlotte. Feel free to fly in, rent a car and come look.
I will be happy to assist with getting the car ready for shipping transport. We have a large parking lot near by with room to turn an 18 wheeler around. I'll store the car for up to two weeks awaiting shipping, but the deposit is due within 48 hours and payment within 7 days of auction close unless prior arrangementsare made.
