1969 Ford Torino 428 Cobra Jet Additional Info:
Up for auction is my 1969 Ford Cobra Formal Roof ... its the Q-code 428 Cobra Jet. Very RARE car, only 1 of 667 Q code C6 Cobras made. The car was highly optioned (see Marti report). Car was originally California car. The original color was Aztec aqua. The car was restored by the previous owner about 7 years ago and was painted Gulfstream Aqua at that time. The car shows beautifully. I had the interior seating recovered when I bought the car including seat emblems. The carpet appears original and in great condition. I tried to verify the date code or assembly date on the block but dont want to disassemble anything in order to do so. The block is smooth (not ribbed) which tells me it is not a service block, but original block. Previous owner stated he believed it to be original. Previous owner is Tony Raniero (former drag racer who used race his 68 Mustang CJ and beat Fords drivers when the Cobra Jet engines were new). He rebuilt the engine in this particular car shortly before I bought it from him. Engine was bored .30 over. The car runs very well. The carb was a Holley "U" service carb when I bought it...I put a brand new Holley 670cfm street avenger on the car to drive it locally/cruising. I have an original Holley "H" 735cfm that goes with the car as well. A/C is not hooked up. I believe it is complete, just never hooked up/charged by previous owner and I never got to it either. I have a brand new condenser that goes with the car. I also put on a Pertronix distributor and coil (Flamethrower 3). I also still ave the original hood insulation and you can see in the pics the original insulator wind flap on the core support remains. Have extra hood trims, tail lenses (3, one of which is NOS in the box). also various other "extras." The odometer shows 14,294.9. I have no idea if this is exact or not. I have only put about 50-100 miles in 2 years. The rear package tray (crumbling) was replaced by me with a custom made panel covered with black vinyl (still have original). The body is in remarkable condition but not perfect. The are a few small chips since the car has been driven. The previous owner, shortly after restoring the car, was parking it in his garage and scratched the lower drivers side fender (pictured). Outside of that its without issue. The underside of the car is showing a little bit of surface rust in some areas, but is SOLID. Car was undercoated at some point, long ago. Everything on the car works EXCEPT the AC and the Fuel gauge (not sure why, It had worked previously and then one day it didnt). I can take more pictures or video upon request for serious interested bidders. Car is located just north of Jupiter Florida. Of course, if possible, I always recommend seeing a car in person so there are no disappointments. PLEASE SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY. I am happy to assist any way I can to provide information and coordinating sale of this rare vehicle. RARE car, RARE opportunity ! Dont miss out ! These cars dont come around very often !! Thanks for looking !!!
On Jan-22-17 at 13:14:35 PST, seller added the following information:
Ive had some questions sent that Ive answered but they haven't shown up here, so let me just go ahead and add on some information here: The rear axle is original to the car… N case with date code 8L27 (1968 Dec. 27) which matches up to the car build date. The tail shaft on the C6 is cast iron as should be. Unable to see castings on the block, but the block appears to be 1969… Does not have the ribs in the casting that service blocks had which tells me this block is original to the car. The previous owner Tony bought the car out of California..he looked for the best example of an original car which is why he bought this one he told me. tough to find a car that survives with these things...attached a picture of the "H" Holley that comes with the car
