EBAY FEEDBACK AND SELLER HISTORY
Please review my Ebay feedback . My wife and I just sold our cherished 1966 Mustang on Ebay and the buyer is very happy with it . We also just sold my sisters Mustang . Both cars sold before the expiration of the auction . I have been in our local Mustang club for 30 years and have worked on them since 1967 so I know these cars very well.
QUESTIONS
Ask questions BEFORE you buy any car . You don't want to buy one that someone claims is in good condition then have to spend thousands of dollars buying a ton of little AND big things for it.
OPTIONS
It is a factory C code 289 2 barrel V8 with power steering.
PERFORMANCE
These V8 Mustangs run very well but are not extremely fast by today's standards like some people think they are, and the throttle opening can easily be regulated to slow them down which also makes them a good choice for kids too if you are considering buying yours their first car.
There are no major squeaks or rattles . There is no whine or howling from the differential . There is no hesitation when accelerating . The transmission shifts exactly like it should . There is no play in the steering and it does not drift or wander on the highway . It pulls strong when you floor it . The car does not pull to either side when braking . There is no whine in the power steering like there often is on these . There is no smoke when first starting it or upon hard acceleration and there is never any lifter noise and it never runs hot.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT ORIGINALITY AND APPEARANCE
It is 100% stock with stock exhaust manifolds, intake manifold and air cleaner etc and it has the correct decals.
ENGINE OPERATING TEMPERATURE
It is very important to determine if any car you buy runs hotter than it should, because getting one to cool properly can easily cost $600.00 or more . One easy way to tell if a cars cooling system is good is to simply let it idle for around 10 minutes . If it has air conditioning, turn that on also . If it isn't hurling water out like Old Faithful Geyser by then, it is probably fine . This engine has NEVER run hot even in the summer in Southern California.
INTERIOR
The interior is mint and in show quality condition . The seats and headliner were redone recently . The carpet is very nice with no obvious wear marks on the heel pad . I just installed new high quality door panels and arm rests from Distinctive Industries and a new high quality USA made dash pad from Dashes Direct . I disassembled the entire dash and sanded the metal and resprayed it with the correct factory color then installed all new facia panels . I also disassembled the instrument bezel then repainted the gauge needles with the correct factory type paint then installed all new lenses and chrome bezel . Virtually no one goes to this level of detail when redoing an interior even though they may claim it is "mint" or has been "entirely replaced" etc.
ELECTRICAL
The electrical systems on these cars are very simple and any problems are easy to fix, however, everything on this particular car works including all the gauges, headlights, tail lights, brake lights, emergency flasher, interior lights, interior light dimmer and turn signals . Even the turn signal canceler works and this part is often broken and costs around $200.00 to repair . It has a good battery and the alternator puts out over 14 volts with a load on it.
BODY
Every panel on this car is original with the factory date codes and spot welds clearly visible . It is pretty straight for a car of this age . If you look under the car you can see that the rockers straight.
RUST AND NEW PAINT
If someone is selling a car that has just been painted, you can be 99.999% certain that the paint will fall off after you wash it a few times and the rust it is hiding will comeback within a month or so, therefore, buyers should beware of newly painted cars . If someone tells you their 50 year old Mustang does not have any rust, they typically have no idea what they are talking about or are blind or never looked, or it has been "repaired" and hidden with bondo, or they are simply lying or they have a miracle car (which is the least likely) . The common places for rust on these cars even in California and Arizona where there is no snow is in the lower front corners of the doors where the outside rusts first, and just in front or behind the rear wheel at the bottom of the panels, and the floor pans . Minor rust from rainwater in any of these areas can be easily and inexpensively fixed . This car had the right front floor pan replaced with a reproduction piece because the heater core was weeping for a period of time but has since been fixed . There was a small repair at the bottom of the front fender and one at the bottom of the right rear fender behind the wheel but these can not be seen by looking at the side of the car . The tops of the fender aprons by the shock towers has the typical spot which is common on all these 67 and later cars no matter where they come from but it does not affect their structural integrity and is only a minor cosmetic issue that can easily be fixed if you want to detail the engine compartment so it looks nice at car shows etc . The rear seam on the trunk and front lower corners of the doors is fine both in and out.
PAINT
It was repainted only once several years ago . There are a few chips and scratches but no lifting or peeling and it still looks very nice and presentable for an older car . The underside of the hood and trunk are also red.
EXTERIOR CHROME
The vent window and rear quarter window chrome which is usually dull and bubbled on these cars is still quite decent looking . The bumpers are very clean.
WINDSHIELD
This was recently replaced with a tinted and shaded one and the seal is new.
TIRES
Near new 195 x 70 - 14 Michelin steel belted radials . I shouldn't pick on a car we are selling, however, even though these are very nice and very high quality tires and are nearly new, I would prefer something slightly taller like a 195 x 75 - 14 with a white wall on it so it looks more original.
VEHICLE LOCATION
We are located in the beautiful city of Murrieta which is near Lake Elsinore . The zip code is 92595 if you want to find it on Google Maps etc.
VEHICLE INSPECTION
I encourage you to see the car in person and drive it so you can be certain that you like it . I also suggest that you bring any Mustang or other automotive expert you have along with you if you don't know much about cars . I also have a floor jack so you can jack it up and crawl underneath if you want . I am available to show it pretty much anytime.
Come out early and bring the kids, bring the dog and the cat . We live in a beautiful area with many small orange groves and there is a forest and hiking trails right at the end of our street . You could also head over to Lake Elsinore afterwards which is only 6 miles away and rent a boat (no special license required) . We are also only 5 miles from a large outdoor dirt track where they often hold events on weekends so you could check that out if you like racing.
