1972 Ford F-250 Ranger XLT Additional Info:

1972 Ford f250 RangerXLT camper special clean California title original paint!!!
This truck is extremely modified about the only thing left that is original and un touched is the body. This is not like the trucks of this era you see listed with a lift consisting oftwo stacked 6" blocks and u bolts that are 18" long or a 6" block with a 4" body lift and crap suspension and steering. Countless hours of custom fabrication and work has gone into this truck. If you are familiar with these early ford trucks then you know this truck has all the good parts and upgrades that everyone wants and either doesn't want to spend the money or time to accomplish. This truckwas built to be a tow rig, 4x4 excursion vehicle and a street friendly vehicle all in one. Despite how tall it is it still flexes very well and goes just about anywhere you want it to. Its defiantly not short on power! This truck drives really well. I've spent a lot of time sorting out the steering and suspension to eliminate the dreadedfront end wobble that comesalong with these lifted trucks.I used this truck as my daily driver for about 6 months while my other vehicles were down. It cruises 70mph on the highway tracks straight with one hand on the wheel.I'm going to break the truck down into sections to give the most accurate description of all the parts. Please read the description carefully as I have taken the time to try and be as detailed as possible.

TCI 11" performance converter custom built for application. Hayes sfI approved flex plate. Transmission isgood up to 800 hp range. I obviously had plans of building a new engine for the truck and just never got there. There is over $3k in pars alone in this transmission. I personally built the transmission myself and have all receipts and pictures of the build!
NP205 transfer case completely disassembled, cleanedandinspected all new bearings, seals and gaskets same time transmission was built. 32 spline input and output shafts. Custom solid transfer case mount fabricated to eliminate rubber bushings.Transfer case output is set up for High angle drivelinedriveshaft brake. Transfer case has been detail painted ford red.
Truck as ALL High angle drivelines! Rear driveshaft 3" .120 wall tube 1350 double cv joint with High angle driveline flange on transfer case, 1410 joint on axle side with 14bolthigh angle driveline flangeon rear end. Front shaft 3" .120 wall High angle driveline 1350 double cv joint withhigh angle driveline flange 1410 joint on axle end. If you are not familiar with High angle drivelines they are one of the most well know quality driveshaft builders around. There stuff is as good as it gets and its not cheap! I have roughly $3k in driveshafts in this truck. (Truck currently has stock lengthenedfront driveshaft installed. I have all the parts and pieces and new driveshaft that can be installedor sent with truck)

These 78-79 high pinion dana 60front axles are extremely hard to find!!! I had to buy a complete truck to get this one.1 3/4" DOMcustom built shock hoops with bilstien 5100 series shocks.
Rear springs are 64"GM 12" lift springs I had custom built by a local spring shop for my application. Chevy 2500spring hangers up front, custom built rear shackle hangers with off road design 6" greaseable shackles. U bolt flip with custom built spring plates. Truck is currently sitting on 15x10 black steel wheels with a set of 44x18.5x15gateway gumbo mudders. The complete frame and under chassis of the truck was steam washed before it was re assembled. Frame has been aerosol painted semi gloss black. The original red oxide primer was still in tack and in very good shape under the cab and bed so I left it. For being a 45 year old 4x4 truck it is very clean underneath!
Body / Interior
Truck started out life as a 1972FordF 250 Ranger XLT camper special 4wdoptioned with factory air conditioning. If you know your early fords then you know thiswas a very high optioned truck for its day. Truck still retains its original T code candy apple red paint.I believe the paint on the entire truck to be original. The body on this truck is in excellent condition for its age. Has one minordent in passenger door near the mirror, and one small dent on the front edge of the hood. Almost all of the original XLTtrim is there. Other than the surface rust on hood and roof this truckhas no rust!!!Floors, cab, fenders, doors, andbed are all in great shape for their age. This truck has the look that has become very popular recently of what people are calling "patina" However this was not painted on in a booth. This is the real deal sweaty 45 year old survivor truck look.Truck hasnice diamond plate rear bumper with stoutbuilt in receiver type hitch. 12" drop hitch included with truck. Has all wiring needed for trailer hook ups. Best part is you know exactly what you are getting here. No cover ups, no half ass rust repair and bono under some half ass paint job. Everything is factory original paint!
Interior matches theexterior of the truck pretty well. No real time or expense was devotedto the interior other than the essentials.Very nice custom built gauge cluster with all autometer ultra litegauges. 3 3/8" electric speedometer with sender installed and calibrated for current tire size. 2 5/8" full sweepoil pressure, water temp, trans temp, fuel pressure, volts, fuel level. 5" tach with shift light mounted under dash.Gauge cluster has custom made harness using all sealed pack connectors. All gauges work accurately. Electric speedometer makes for fast and accurate calibration. Vintage ford aftermarket steering wheel.Front seat isa 60/40 split bench removed from a1990 chevy truck and is brand new. Literally it was removed from the truck when it was at the dealership for installation of some custom seats. Seat riser brackets have been shortened to make the seat fit the truck properly. Adapter plates built to utilize the original mounting locations. Up until a couple days ago truck still had the original carpet.Carpet was in poor shape so I removed it to show the buyer the condition of thefloor. Headliner and all trim is missing. Dash pad is cracked. The factory air conditioning and heater box was in bad shape after some rodents made a nice home in thereand has been remove and discarded.
I believe the truck has 76k original miles when I first started however that is not really relevant because literally everything has been changed. The only itemI have not personally done on the truck myselfis the engine build. When I bought the truck the previous owner had just built theengine.I was skeptical as I am whenever I buy something used but it has proven to be a very solid piece. I have used this truck for several camping trips, 4x4 excursions, towing of severalprojects over the years, as well as my daily driverwhen needed.I just recently a couple months backwent through the suspension. The truck just wasn't driving as well as it used to and developed some front end wobble it never had before. I just replaced every leaf spring and shackle bushing on the entire truck both front and rearwith new urethane energy suspension bushings. Completely disassembled the front axle replaced all the king pins, bushings, king pin springs, shimmed the king pin springs to eliminate all play. Re packed the wheel bearings, fresh gear oil ect ect. I also built and installed the front track bar when I did this work. Truck drives great again. You will notice I am not even running a steering stabilizer on the front steering. Total there is probably right around 10k miles on all suspension, and drivetrain parts. It is hard to estimate because the gauge cluster was done after the truck was initially built.
The need list:
This is the part where I disclose the few issues the truck does have. Fuel gauge has recently been reading erratically. I have not diagnosed it but thegauge is new so I would have to assume the senderis to blame. Headers on the truckare old, rusty and thin. One tube has been previously patched. L&L products make some very nice headers for this application that I was planning on installing but just never got there. The tires are old and have some cracking. This truck really deserves a fresh set of tires.I've had a couple different size tires on the truck 38's when I first lifted it and now the 44's. It obviously looks the best with the 44'showeverthe front fenders will need to be cut for tire clearance if you plan on wheeling it hard. I wasn't sure I wanted to cut the fenders soI'll leave that up to the new owner. I recently dismounted all 4 tires from the wheels (yeah its a bitch) installed 6ply reinforced patches in a couple of the tires where they had previously been plugged. I also installed balance beads in all 4 tires at the same time which has made the truck drive so much better. The final piece this truck needs is the completion of the hydro assist steering which is not very complicated. A hydraulicram, couple mounting tabs, lines, and drilling and tapping of the steering box. Quality power steering pump, reservoir, cooler, ect are alreadythere and ready.
I've owned this truck for almost 7 years spent countless hours of research, fabrication and of coarse moneyto get it where its at now. Had a lot of fun, turned lots of heads. Its time for someone else to enjoy it and pick up where I left off. This truck is extremely reliable... I would drive it anywhere!
Good luck bidding please feel free to e mail me with any questions you have about the truck.
Ialso have a ton more pictures of the truck including pictures before, during and throughout the built.
