1979 Ford Mustang Indy Pace Car Additional Info:
Here today for sale I am selling my 1979 Mustang Indianapolis Pace Car. I purchased this car back in August of 2012. The car has 38,747 original miles. It has been garaged since I purchased it and never driven in rain or snow. The car runs and drives nice and has the 302 (5.0 liter) engine with a four speed manual transmission with O/D. The engine has a 2 barrel carburetor, the car hesitates a bit sometimes when you first start it until it warms up a bit but the old carburetors were always like that. The previous owner tastefully installed straight dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers, and I have to say it sounds really nice... The exterior of the car is in great shape, the exterior paint is really nice and has the normal fading to the hood, roof and trunk areas as a car of that age would have. (see pics) Also the black paint on the lower half is also faded but still in nice shape. There is no rust anywhere on the body of the car. The Pace car stickers are all in tact on the vehicle and are in nice shape. The underneath of the car is also really nice with no rust on any of the frame or bottom of the uni-body. The tires and rims on the car were brand new from the previous owner and the BF Goodrich tires barely have 1,000 miles on them. I also have all four original Michelin TRX tires on the original stock rims and the tires still have most of the tread on them! The Marchal fog lights work great and have both white Marchal covers. I had the front Recaro seats re-upholstered to exact stock specs and same material back in 2012. The cloth is a thicker better made material that won't wear out like you see on all of these cars. These front Recaro seats are really nice! The interior is in great shape and all gauges, lights, and switches work perfectly. Even the display panel on the console under the radio showing which bulbs are out works along with the digital clock. The radio works great but the cassette player works intermittently. The power amp works great! I installed brand new speakers front and back to freshen up the sound. It has the original black louvered sunshield in place that covers the sunroof. The sunroof is removable and comes out and goes back in perfectly. I had a rare and very difficult to find Ford Motorsport 140 MPH speedometer installed replacing the 80 MPH speedometer at 38,293 miles. The 140MPH speedometer had 12,192 miles on it when installed, it now has 12,647. There are custom Indy Pace Car floor mats in the front and back. I also found an original and brand new set of rear window locking louvers made by Interpart for the back window, it has 2 keys for it. The louvers tilt up for easy window cleaning. Besides the exhaust, the only upgrades I did was to have smaller under-drive belt pulleys replaced to give the car an added boost of power, otherwise the motor, transmission are all original. I do have the original parts for anything replaced...I have the original 80 MPH speedometer, original speakers, the original belt pulleys, original exhaust manifolds from the original exhaust. I also just had a new power steering pump installed about a month ago. It also comes with a car cover.
The car has very minor oil leaks, nothing major and normal for a 1979 vehicle.
It is now in storage for the winter...
This car has been meticulously maintained since I purchased it in 2012 and the pictures should show you how nice it really is.
I have also listed this car locally and reserve the right to end auction if it sells locally.
PLEASE DON'T ASK ME IF I WILL TAKE LESS FOR THE CAR OR TRADES, I WILL KEEP MY CAR BEFORE I DO THAT....
Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions.
You are responsible for the local pickup or transporting of this vehicle after purchase.
Thanks and good luck!
