1987 Ford Other Pickups deluxe Additional Info:

Up for sale is a 1987 Ford E350 custom turbo diesel 5th wheel hauler built by National Coach. I am selling this for a senior friend of mine. He has had this truck for a while now. It has been stored inside and used on occasion, mostly weekends. He is the second So. California owner and has taken great care of it. I do know he has never hauled or towed with it. The tag in the door jamb says it is #42.
It is a 6.9 Diesel with an ATS turbo package added by National. It is built on a HD ambulance chassis. It also has a Gear vendor's over under with an expensive, updated digital controller. Here are some of the thing I was told about the truck and it's service history via my friend:
Custom K&N air cleaner system
Gear Vendors 6 speed over/under with updated digital control unit
Nice stereo with MP3 hook-up. (sounds nice)
Engine top end was re-built with added ARP stud package
Complete fluid service and filters recently
Completely rebuilt A/C system and properly updated to R134A (very cold)
New belts
Newer hoses-cooling
Newer radiator (HD 4 core)
Complete new brakes
New tires about a year ago with very few miles
Upgraded free flow exhaust (nice sound, not loud)
New headlight switch
Replacement fuel sending unit
All new top of the line HD shocks for the commercial chassis
Etc.
I am sure there is more, but this is what I remember him telling me and from my observations. I recently drove this truck for about an hour and it performed very well. It rides better than I expected, is quiet and smooth, and has really impressive power. The a/c was cold and the stereo sounds really nice. It has more interior custom lights than it needs including side, hidden "mood lighting". I did check and it has a very clean chassis and mechanical and does not leak. The steering seems a little loose or something, but upon some research it seems this may be normal with the twin I-beam front end, just as a note on a possible item needing some attention.. or not... The exterior finish is the original and very nice for it's age. It does have some little chips here and there and a small surface rust area above the passenger door and a small area on the roof. They appear surface, like the paint is getting thin, but one never knows. The paint could stand a good polish and detail, but is nice as it sits for an original 30 year old paint job. The bed does have some scrapes from being used to haul stuff hear and there (home center items) and some surface rust here and there. I would spray a bed liner in it, but it is fine. Nice chrome rims for originals and nice trim and bumpers. All in all, a very nice, cared for exterior for original.
The interior is a very nice, original light gray and dark red. The dash has had a cover since new and is perfect. The only real thing I noted was the driver's seat has some wear on the outside bolsters from getting in and out. All, in all, a really deluxe and custom Landmark interior that shows a lot of care and proper upkeep for it's 30 years of use.
All in all, a really nice, clean, and straight old custom van/fifth wheel hauler. I assume this was quite the status statement among custom van people in its day. I assume you had "arrived" if you were hauling your 5th wheeler or flat bottom speedboat to the river in one of these custom beauties. While not mint, It is very clean and show definite pride of ownership for it's 30 years. It really draws attention and admirers when you drive it around. If you have been looking for one of these, you would be hard pressed to find a nicer original, in my opinion. Also, the diesel option was rare in the day. Most had 460's from what I read on them. Don't miss out on this opportunity, My senior friend and his wife need to sell it, so it has a reserve set to SELL! He and his wife no longer use it and would like it to find a home with someone who can enjoy it.
Please ask any and all questions. Please keep in mind this a very well maintained "ORIGINAL". It is not restored. Expect the random scratch or nick or age related items here or there and maybe some future tinkering or upgrading as needed/ preferred... I will relay them to my friend and respond accordingly. It is currently registered and insured and should be ready to drive home, today!
