Hi, You are bidding on a real cool car with a real cool story!
I recently picked this car up from the original owner, The car has not been out of the garage since 1972!!! The car was bought new at Spiker Ford in Milford, Mi. And Jim, the previous owner bought this car with one thing in mind...To beat SS396's and roadrunners..
.He said; He was going to show everyone that Ford had something that could compete, and he did!! The car was raced at Milan dragway and all around the Milford/Highland area and from what he said he never got beat...when 72 came around we all know the gas crunch came and this being a SCJ drag/pack 3.91 car Jim pulled the 3.91 out and put a 3.50 gear.
So he could drive it but just prior to that he let a friend drive the car and over-revved the SCJ and blew the motor so he went to the dealer and got a new short block, While retaining all the original SCJ parts the car still has the Carter X fuel pump and numbers matching Cast-iron tailshaft "R" servo C-6, and the correct speedo reducer!!Shortly after getting the new short block, the car just got put on the back burner thus here we are present day with a car that was left alone since then! Over the years with things being moved around and such there were some parts that are not to be found.
The car is missing the original carb. Radiator, fan, 1 oil cooler lineand the original exhaust manifolds. He bought hooker headers in 1971 I have the receipt!
The car currently has a set of painted steel wheels but the only other option Jim ordered beside the drag/pack was the Chrome styled steel wheels...I have 3 with the original Goodyear Polyglas tires still on them! so
If you want the wheels on the car we can talk but they are off one of my other projects. The 3 originals will be included.
As for the interior it is in great shape with the exception of the drivers side of the bench seat bottom it has a separation front to back and also in the nearest corner there is a small tear...
The body on the car is actually pretty nice it will need a LH fender and door due to some bad dents and possibly a RH fender, it has some rust but could be fixed depends on how much you want to save. The quarters are nice the LH is GREAT but has some dents.
The RH has a spot right at the rear of the wheel well trim at the bottom, and it will also need a RH trunk drop the other sider is great...
Floors and torque boxes have some surface rust buy will clean up with little effort, NO patch work...all in all it is a rear cool 95% complete original car with a Great story...
Please understand that the first pic of the motor/trans/oilcooler if you do the math on just what that is we want PENNIES FOR THE REST!!!!.
Pleaase Call Greg with any questions at 734-796-3473!!!
Thank you and happy bidding also the pic of the Marti report there is a little leather key holder with the original dealer stamped in it with the original keys in it...VERY COOL!!!!! ( more pics available contact Greg at number above, not good on this computer thing ) Delivery possibly available .
