1956 Ford Thunderbird Base Convertible 2-Door Additional Info:

I am selling my 1956 Ford Thunderbird with the Continental Kit. This car runs and drives excellent and all the main components of the car work great. This car has been in storage for close to 20 years and had the same owner for about 30 years before I purchased the car. I was informed by the previous owner (who is now 89) that this vehicle has had one repaint which was done in the mid 90's and that the drive train has never been removed from the car. He was friends with the previous owner to him who has now passed away but that individual purchased the vehicle new from a local dealer. The car has had a great history and has never gone through a full restoration so MOST of this car is original. I purchased the car as a weekend driver for my current family of 3 but recently we found out we will now be a family of 4 so the vehicle will be too small for weekend drives. I am not currently in the market for another car so i will not be interested in any trades.
DRIVE TRAIN:
The engine is the 312 CID Y-Block Engine with the Fordomatic 2 speed automatic transmission. The motor and transmission drive smooth and shift smooth with a lot of power and nice cruising up to 65 mph. Since I have owned the vehicle i have gone through all of the fluids in the car and the ignition system. The engine and transmission are completely stock and original. The carb is a Holley 4 barrel with electric choke which was an available option on the 1956 thunderbirds. This car has power steering and manual drum brakes which have been serviced all the way around. The tires are a full set of wide white walls including a full size spare. The car is also outfitted with vintage air conditioning which both works great and is easily removable. The entire exhaust on the car was also done recently. The one upgrade that has been done to the vehicle is that an electric fuel pump has been added so the reliability and drive-ability of the car are much better. The pump has been installed under the fuel tank so it can not be seen and the old vacuum system has been left in the car for aesthetics. From what i was informed, this motor and transmission are matched to the vehicle.
INTERIOR:
The previous owner informed me that the entire interior is original except for the fan unit that was installed for the vintage air conditioning. The seat is in great shape with NO TEARS, RIPS, OR STAINS. This car also has power windows and 4 way power bench seat. Both work fine with the windows needing a little help on the way up. The headliner on the hard top doesn't have any damage either. The speedometer, tachometer, and blower motor work great. Both the engine temperature gauge and fuel gauge sometimes work but other times don't. Unsure why at the moment. The door panels and dash board are in great shape with no cracks. The rug is original but I had the floor foam replaced due to age and a slight smell. The trunk has absolutely NO RUST. The radio in the car has been changed to a cassette player with am/ fm and sounds great.
EXTERIOR:
This car turns heads everywhere it goes. The original color of this car was fiesta red and it was repainted in the mid 90's in the stock color. The paint is about an 8 out of 10 showing a few signs of age due to an older paint job. It is even and uniform but has a few flaws. The chrome is in amazing condition and shines great. The hub caps that are currently on the car are reproduction wire wheels but i do have the original "Flat Plate" style. The car has just the HARDTOP which is how the car was ordered. Not all thunderbirds had a soft top. The car has the Continental Kit with the externally mounted spare tire and tons of chrome. Also has the exhaust exit the left and right corners of the rear bumper. The underside of the car is very clean with NOT ONE SPOT OF RUST OR ROT on the whole car. The frame has been coated a few years after the paint job.

I have put a lot of time in this car and have taken very good care of it as have the previous owners. The car comes with the owners manual, a parts magazine, and both original ignition keys and truck key.
