I call this car the “ONLY ONE” because it is. This car is entirely handmade and, with the exception of the hood, it is 100% STEEL! This car was engineered and constructed over the course of 13 years starting in the mid to late 1970’s by a very clever craftsman living his boyhood dream. I have original documentation from its inception. Several large “D” ring binders with newspaper clippings, scores of hand written notes, information from the manufacturer of every sourced part used and tons of pictures verifying its authenticity.
The creator and builder eventually donated the car to an industrial arts school to be used as a teaching aid. Ten years later, it was purchased by who I believe to bethe school’s Industrial Arts teacher who then took it home to begin a total, ground up, restoration. The results of that work can be seen here as an absolute marvel to look at and drive.
This classic “hot rod”, one off, started its life as a 1954 Mercury Monterey boasting its new “overhead valve V8” with 161 horse power and “newly designed ball joint front suspension”. In addition, a new 4 barrel carburetor had been incorporated by Ford for “rapid acceleration” and “economical operation”.
This “ONLY ONE” includes the engine, transmission, rear differential and front suspension ofa mid to late ’50’s Mercury with a bit of modification to enhance performance even further.

This is not a 9 second hot rod but it could be. I much prefer the man made creation that it is. It has that great Ford rumble in the exhaust but it is not a beast. It is fun to drive, very responsive, handles extremely well, stops straight and true even though it has 4 wheel power drum brakes. It starts quickly, runs smoothlyand gathers crowds where ever it goes. Remember, this car is probably 50 years old or so but, where ever you look, it is a better built custom than I have seen in my many years of playing with cars. It is the “ONLY ONE” of its kind, there are no others like it.
The paint is quite nice with a couple of very small spots where it is blemished slightly and the interior is excellent right down to the chopped and channeled ’54 Mercury dashboard. One small note, if you are a "LARGE" or excessively TALL person, fagetaboutit! You won’t fit~ The remaining "regular size folks" fit just fine.
I am sure that you have a lot of questions and I will do my very best to answer them. Everything is in the informational binders that come with the car….detail by detail…..receipts and all….a lot of pictures taken during its rebirth process. The caris available to be seen at almost any reasonable hour just send me an email and we can go for a ride. There is only my wife keeping me from adding this incredible machine to my personal collection.
