Selling my pride and joy to a good home.
I have been to many shows and I can say you will never see another 65 Mustang Set up like this one.So many things have been done to this car I can’t possibly list everything.
If you have ever driven a manual shift/ steer and drum brake 65 mustang you know it is a chore to drive. It takes all your concentration to park it. I like to think of my Mustang as a civilized version that is easy to drive like a modern car. This is not a trailer queen, this car is a DRIVER, a car you can hop in and go anywhere.
I have owned this car since 1979, I restored it 3 times to what you see now. This is an easy to drive great handling 1965 mustang. This was my college car and I set out to make it a Shelby recreation. The Car has Sub-frame rails to stiffen the Uni-body, All New Metal was welded in place in the usual Mustang rusted areas. Shelby underide traction bars are fitted to a 9 inch rear end with 3.70 Ford traction lock On 15 inch American Racing Wheels and new BF Goodrich Tires. Rear Reverse eyelet springs give it a low stance.
The Battery is trunk mounted in a custom aluminum mount. Modern Super bright LED Headlights, LED Taillights LED front turn signals, LED Backup Lights and LED turn signals built in to the Shelby side mirrors.
Final paint Restoration was Completed in Dec 2006. I have since driven it less than 1,000 miles per year. the odometer is correct from the last restoration in 2006 and reads 12,100 miles. It sits in my Garage getting weekly love and Attention.
This Mustang has power rack and pinion steerin, Street or track Front coil over suspension, Air Conditioning with Ceramic tint on windows to keep you cool in mid day heat. This mustang was fitted with super comfortable leather seats, with the Drivers seat being a power seat. Window Crank actuated Power Windows and remote power locks, remote alarm system, 5 speed transmission, 4 Wheel power disc brakes, Cable Clutch, BallBearing Clutch and Brake Pedals, Electric Choke, Alpine Am/ Fm Stereo with Cd Playe, Six Speakers, And A subwoofer in the trunk with Alpine Power Amp. Car has been Driven on 4 and 5 hour trips to The Annual Daytona Beach Turkey run where it always turns heads. I also added a billet parking brake handle with warning light and Buzzer.
The original 289 was bored .30 over and fitted with TRW 10.5 to 1 forged Pistons,
Runs well on Premium Unleaded with octane boost needed only on really hot days to stem off detonation. It has a high performance Camshaft with Rhoads Lifters.
The heads were ported and machined with large stainless steel valves then port matched to the Edelbrock High Rise intake and then fitted with roller rocker arms on screw in studs covered by Open Letter Cobra Valve Covers. The Oil Pan is the Cobra 7.5 Quart Oil Pan with Baffle and Windage tray. A 670 holley avenger carb with electric choke. The Fuel Pump Is a high performance holley pump
Tri-y Ceramic Coated headers to a full stainless steel Magna flow Exhaust. Sounds amazing to drive to redline of 5500. Engine features a Pertronix Distributor and Coil for reliable starts.
Front end of the car is the Shelby”R” fiberglass front fitted with Fog Lights in the brake vent holes. The side scoops are fully functional to help cool the rear disc brakes
The paint is High Quality Base Coat Clear Coat with Stripes Clear Coated into the paint.
I have Fitted Led interior dome lights and dash lights to improve the view of the standard gauges. I added the 65 Shelby Tach and Oil Pressure Gauge that sits on top of the dash.
I am sure I missed many more features like all the dyna mat insulation and the trunk being lined in new black trim. You really have to see it
