"Project Car In Search of Loving Home"
Ford Enthusiasts and Restorers: My name is John. I am one of you ! My passion is Fords!Mustang: (The best selling classic car there is, period! )Somethingto think about when pondering this one.
The Story: Purchased in the 70's by a friend, right around the time he was the enter the service. This car was originally sold NEW by a dealership in Marylan, then sold to this friend as a USED car.My friend unfortunately had an accident with the car in a local parking lot, causing it to be towed home. This friend did enter the servic, while the car ended up at his family farm on jack stands for the next 27 years. It was then moved to another farm close to my home about 15 years ago.I was recently contacted by the family to see if I had any interest inacquiringthe car.Not wanting to see the car possibly be lost, I agreed to purchase it.The next couple of evenings were spent getting the car prepared to betraileredback to my home shop.I then went about the process of seeing if I could get the car in a running, driving condition, while also deciding if the signs were there that this could be a candidate for a full restoration. I feel it is . However, I just have too much going on in my shop to take it on at the moment myself. Therefore, SALE !!
The Good: The motor on this car turned over freely, so I put in a battery, a set of points, acarburetorrebuild, and a new fuel sender. After this, the old girl came to life! Not only does it run, but it does so surprisingly well!I then turned my attention to making it stop. Two new front brake hoses, wheel cylinders and a quality used master cylinder, as well as shoes and one brake line, and the car will now stop, even on a loose banana peel !While sitting at one of the farm locations, thievesstole a bunch of parts off of the car. This explains a newer replacement bumper. I was also able to locate almost everything that had been stolen off of this car with the exception of the center console. The car is now mostly complete. Now, although this car does run and drive, do not get the crazy idea that you are going to fly in and drive it back home toAlbuquerque. This car needs a lot of TLC and labor = Time. No car shows or Saturday night cruises in the next few weeks or so ! I do have a lot of spare parts that will go along with the car. ( see photos )
Good Points:All Original Drive Line ( Matching Numbers Car ) Carb, radiator, etc, all original.Good rear frame rails, torque boxes, trunk floor, rocker panels, great window trim ( just polish)Both doors should be salvageable.
Rust: Yes, there is! Restoration will require possible new hood, deck lid, one fender, front floors, possibly cowl patch or replacement, drivers side front frame rail. Firewall seems to be okay, but with some rust where it meets the front floors. Quarter panels will need some body magic as well.
This car can be a stunningrestorationwith the white and red color combination and Mach 1 striping !
The car comes with the Marti Report and Clear Title, and I will deliver the car up to 175 Miles with a " Buy It Now Purchase"
The 71- 73 Mustangs have been moving up in value, and as you might know, all restoration parts are available! Great father and son project or Mustang Restoration Specialists fix and flip. I would love to see this one completed.
