1969 Ford Mustang Mach I Sportsroof Additional Info:
C. C. Barnette bought this Mach 1 new for his son as his first car. The younger Barnette drove the car through high school, junior college in Texarkana and to the university of Texas law school in Austin. Upon graduation he felt the need for a more prestigious car and returned the mustang to his dad.
Mr. Barnette kept the car in his garage for over 30 years. Later he began to show the car and it has won many local awards. The car remains completely unrestored, unaltered and unmolested with 87,000 actual miles.
I was able to buy the car before Mr. Barnette passed away and I would now like to sell it to a preservationist.
The paint his original except there was a slight altercation with a mailbox necessitating that the hood and the left front fender be painted. Later on a fishing trip there was a small scratch from a tree limb and the right front fender was also repainted. The remaining original paint shows a couple of slight faded spots but exhibits a beautiful gloss.
No repair our restoration has been done on the original interior which remains in excellent condition. An aftermarket radio was installed - after all what young man wouldn't want a cassette player in the 1960's?
Mechanically all that has been done is maintenance.
Under the truck you will find many awards that the car received in latter years and the original spare tire having never been used.
Basically what you are seeing here is a six year old used car carefully stored away and maintained by a loving father for almost 4 decades. Car collector magazine heard about this vehicle and did a front page story on its existence. A copy of that magazine is included. Also included is a deluxe Marti report.
