1982 Fiat Spider 2000
This year marks the last official car in the 124 series for Fiat.
It was also the last official year Fiat imported cars until the 2012 model year. This model was the last Fiat you could buy for 30 years! It was a short year, so more rare than earlier years. After a16 year model run, was more refined than earlier cars. Also benefitting from the 124 starting out well ahead of its competitors.
Sales continued under the coachbuilder for 3 more years as the Pininfarina Spider without a backseat and a couple other changes.
2L DOHC engine with FI, 5spd all syncro trans., 4wheel disc brakes, wishbone Independent Front Suspension, and one of the easiest to operate convertible tops in existence for decades.
This car is a nice driver. It's not a show car, nor is it a dog in any way. Itstarts, stops, runs, drivesand turns as it should. Corners quite well actually. That is one of the benefits to these cars. I think it has upgraded KYB shocks in front. Paint is a bit of a ten footer and could be redone eventually but this color looks so good and hides chips and scratches well, so is not imperative. I did respray a spot that was peeling on the fender and the color doesn't match perfectly, but not terribly noticeable. Can be taken care of when you do your concourse repaint eventually. Interior is really pretty nice on this car with good carpet, seats and door panels. Not Concourse either, but looks pretty good. I think this is the best interior color offered on these. It has the original option "iron cross" aluminum alloy wheels. Tires are 185/70 with good tread but I'm not sure how old they are. So if you want serious canyon carving, they could be upgraded. It also has the tan boot cover that fits over the top when it's down. Another option. Looks good and works as intended. Top is a nice tan with clear window. It isn't new but it looks and works good, without holes. Had one smalltear on right rear seam, that I had fixed. Lights and signals work. Heater is great, if you don'tknow these cars, fan also works good. Has a good CD player and speakers in the back so you can even hear it. (Sorry purists).
Recent service includes spark plugs, a new brake master cylinder and lubing the caliper slider blocks, radiator fan switch, new timing belt and tensioner bearing, valve adjustmentand changing fluids including transmission oil. The only thing left is for you to fill her up with Super and drive her this summer. Great for cruising through town with the top down or carving your favorite mountain road. The weather is starting to look beautiful and this little beauty is ready to go. Just in time. Enjoy the ride.
Tuition payments are coming due and I have more cars than parking, so this one has to go. This really is one of the ones I feel more like keeping the more I drive it, so you should come get it soon. Before I change my mind.
The car is available for inspection or test drive evenings and weekends by prior appt.
