1953 Fiat 500 C Topolino Belvedere Additional Info:

In the same league as Ford's Model T here in the States, Austin's 7 in England, Citron's 2CV in France and Volkswagen's Beetle in Germany, Fiat's 500 quickly became the Italian's people's car after its launch in 1936.

Topolino literally translates as "little mouse." The car came from an Italian lawyer who lived in Rome's exclusive Coppede neighborhood. He used the Topolino there for about 15 years.

Finished in a newer classic two-tone green paint scheme that conjures voyages in the Tuscan countryside, it features pleasing touches such as cream wheel centers, chrome bumpers and a full-length Webasto sliding roof. The car's paint and trim are in overall very good condition. The car's new chrome bumpers fit tightly to the body. The engine bay is in good, original order while the cargo area is in fine form.

This little mouse rolls on older bias-ply tires (showing age) mounted on steel wheels topped with cream-colored wheel centers that offer great contrast to the exterior color. The wheels are mounted on an independent front suspension and a live rear axle with leaf springs out back. The car is fitted with four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. The original tire jack and spare tires are included., with spare bumpers too.

In recent months, the previous owner had the brakes serviced, had new sunroof material fitted, new replacement chrome bumpers and new window rubber installed. The car has a 12-volt electric system.

Under the hood is a .5L side-valve four-cylinder engine mated to a four-speed manual transmission. d

The interior is fitted in green and brown materials. The front buckets are in fine form, the floor mats replace any carpeting. The inner door panels provide map pockets, the green metal dashboard has a brown inset for the gauges. A floor-mounted gearshift and a folded rear seat enhance complete the interior and the cargo area offers plenty of cargo space.

Up to four passengers can curl up in the minimalistic cabin, which is trimmed with authentic materials. The four-speed gearbox is shifted via a floor-mounted lever, allowing the driver to get the most from the engine.

In 1936, Fiat touted the 500 as the "great new little car to save money and work." It remains widely loved, and this eminently appealing Belvedere wagon will surely provide endless delight as you motor around the village, your farm or country estate.

If you're looking for a cute addition to your collection, check out this Italian gem and prepare to take it al fresco for a test drive after saying bonjourno at MotoeXotica Classic Cars during a visit.
