This is your chance to own a vintage 1970s Car!
Up for sale is my 1977 FIAT 128 2-Door Sedan, with a manual 4-speed transmission. The car is in very nice condition - both interior and exterior with very minor wear. This is a very basic model FIAT 128 with a 4-speed manual transmission and 4 cylinder engine, which uses leaded gasoline. The windows are manual operation, and an after-market Radio has been added below the dashboard.
The car has the original Red-Orange paint finish on the exterior, with the Wheat-Tan leatherette bucket and rear seats, with black dashboard and a rubber-like floor. The (2) front bucket seats hinge forward for access to the back seat, see photos. The car is registered and insured in Vermont, and has been in my garage continuously since 1978. We have the original Owner's Warranty and Service book as well as many of the Repair receipts from Dean Hill Motors (from 1982 through 1985), and then from the detailed service work in 2004 from Merchand Brothers.
Please review the photos and note:
a) the first (7) photos which are taken outdoors are from 2004, after the car was completely re-serviced; and
b) the remaining photos and scans are from June 2019 and represent the current condition. In the 10th photo of the driver's side of the car, with hood open, please note: There are NO ripples in the bodywork. The rippled appearance is a reflection from the aluminum ladder, seen on the right side of the photo.
Background: I purchased the FIAT new in September 1977 from Dean Hill Motors in Claremont, New Hampshire while I was in college. The car has low mileage (23,937 Miles), most of which was from use prior to 1985. After I moved to NYC, I did not want the expense of garaging a car. It became the spare car for weekend visits and was driven occasionally through 2004, in Southern Vermont and New Hampshire.
NOTE: For interested bidders, please contact me via eBay if you'd like to inspect the FIAT 128 in person. The car is located in Springfield, VT 05156 (I-91, Exit 7) is available for viewing, or I can send you a video. Please contact me via ebay to coordinate time, address and directions.
Condition: In the summer of 2004, the car was serviced from bumper to bumper by Merchand Brothers, Inc. of White River Junction, Vt. They replaced a number of worn parts with genuine FIAT parts, which I obtained from Europe. The FIAT was in great working condition and driven about 65 miles in 2004 after this service work.
The one exception is the Carburetor which was not replaced. There is also a loose escutcheon on the passenger door latch. The battery is dead and needs to be replaced. We have both the old and a new Carburetor for the FIAT, plus the Tire Jack and miscellaneous spare parts, i.e., a new brake cable. Since the Fall of 2004, the FIAT has been in storage, up on blocks in my garage, and unused. There is 15 year old gasoline in the Gas Tank and the SR-13 Radial Tires and Muffler (by Midas) were replaced at some point along the way.
Additionally, I have the original spare tire, the FIAT case with the tools (wrenches, etc.) and a number of OEM spare parts: Brake Cable; Clutch Cable; Brake Pads, Filters, Headlight, Timing Belt, Oil Fileter, Tool Kit, Distributor Cap, etc. (see the last photo).
The Car is being sold AS IS.
Note: Vermont DMV does not issue Titles for cars over 15 years old. We can furnish the recent annual registrations as proof of ownership. The buyer is responsible for the vehicle pickup and shipping.
