Description 1951 Fiat 500 Topolino Convertible Saloon Listed on behalf of Monte Shelton Located in PORTLAND, OREGON.
The Fiat 500 Topolino ("Little Mouse") was produced from 1937 to 1955 with only minor changes over the years. They were designed as a city car for the tight streets of Italy where parking was at a premium. With an overall length of 128 inches (about 10-1/2 feet long) they were truly one of the first "Micro Cars."
This particular car was restored as needed several years ago. Repainted in correct Fiat "Grigio" (Gray) color. Paint looks great with smooth finish and a deep shine. New Excelsior tires at that time. The wool broadcloth interior appears to be excellent and original, as is the sliding convertible top. Chrome, glass and trim are good. New rubber floor mat. Body is solid. Panels are straight with good fit. Please see photos. Odometer shows 21,550 kilometers (13,390 miles) which may be correct, given the overall condition of the car, but can't be verified after 66 years.
Mechanically, this Topolino runs and drives well. 560 cc straight 4 cylinder engine. 16 HP. Water-cooled with radiator at the rear of the engine. Runs cool. 4-speed manual transmission shifts crisply. Newer exhaust. Rated at 39+ MPG. I have personally driven this car around town and on the freeway. I've had it up to speeds of 55 mph (90 kmh) which just about tops it out. It's a fun car to drive and gets lots of admiring looks and questions wherever it goes.
If you're looking for a unique car to enjoy for cruising around town, this is certainly a good one.
Priced with a reserve based on its condition and rarity. Please bid accordingly.
WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BIDDERS WORLDWIDE.
