1978 Fiat Other Additional Info:
This is a rust free, 95% original, 1978 Fiat X1/9. I bought this car from a storage lot, so I know nothing about it's past. I intended to restore the car as a hobby, but I have learned I know next to nothing about mid-engine Fiats! The car is straight, no rust, no apparent body damage, other than the front spoiler. It is missing both seats (not sure the story behind that)?? I have replaced the brake master cylinder, the clutch master and slave cylinders and turned all four brake rotors. I also replaced the steering rack and pinion. This is an A/C car and I have all the parts. I found no wiring/electrical gremlins, the lights work, the head lights pop-up and work as expected. Original silver paint is not perfect, but it buffed out nice. This car even sports it's original Panasonic AM/FM radio.
I am more of an American muscle car guy and just bought a project car in my comfort zone, so the Fiat needs to go! The car does run, but would benefit from a person who knows how to tune and work on these cars. I rebuilt the carb and think it needs additional TLC to tune and get the engine running smoothly. This car also has a lot of extra parts, some still sealed in manufacturer packaging (everything will go with the car to the winning bidder). Although not in the pictures, I do have the damage free front bumper and black targa top.
The car has a clear Texas title and the odometer shows 03870 miles (probably 103870 miles). I understand these cars are popular for auto crossing and this one would also make a great candidate for someone who knows these cars and wants a good foundation for restoration. Obviously, this car is sold without any warranty or guarantees and winning bidder will need to arrange for pick-up. At $500 deposit will be due at the close of the auction. The car is also for sale locally and available for inspection.
