Rare opportunity ... not many of these desirable early Series models with single headlights available
Like many of my cars over the years, we stripped this car to bare metal, primered it with 2 part Epoxy, and put it in storage.
Now at age 74, after many years of restoring old race cars, it's time to sell off many of my cars, and many many years of accumulated stock of parts, so I can sell the 3 buildings that housed my restoration business..
As Usual........
ALL reasonable offers toadd, or lowe, a"Buy it Now" will be considered
This early Series 1 Fiat 124 Coupe with single headlights is the most desirable of the models.
This was a Southern car, last registered in Georgia in , according to theState sticker on the windshield. I had my guys strip the original paint to bare metal, and primer it with 2 part Epoxy.NO body work was done, there isNO bondo, and what you see is what it IS. The body was very solid, with just a few spots, that are shown in the pictures.
Under the car is a bit of a different story. The drivers floor/sill will need replacement, as shown. The passenger side looks pretty solid, but may need to be patched. Both doors close correctly, have good glass, and decent interior panels. headliner is in good condition and should clean ok. Both front seats are pretty decent, as is the rear seat. Some other misc. patches likely to be needed.
The car appears complete, I think there was a missing headlight rim. Grill and bumpers are pretty decent.
In spite of the floor/sill damage, these early Series 1 Coupes are well worth restoring. They are the most desirable model, in part to their better handling characteristics, and this one does have a pretty decent interior for a driver.
This car has the original 1438cc motor and 5 speed. The motor is stuck, we did put Marvel oil in the cylinder, but never tried to turn it. It may be free by now, but at least will be easier to disassemble.
We do have a good 1800cc motor and 5 speed that was the spare in one of our 124 race cars. Last run at Barber 3 or 4 years ago, it should be freshened with bearings, rings, seals, etc.It ran ok, with no unusual smoke or noises, but I do not suggest using it as is.
We would offer that as an option for $500 exchange for the 1438/trans. if desired.
We have more picture, pleasecontact us for more specific pictures if needed
