We are pleased to offer a 1974 Ferrari246 GTS Dino, US model “Chairs and Flares” VIN #07842, unrestored, matching numbers and it has “Classiche Certification” (“Red Book”) inspected and certified at the Ferrari factory (see Code: 001 in the Classiche Service Booklet) in Maranello in 2020. The car has 57,100 miles on the odometer.
This is a very rare and thought after Dino model; the “Chairs and Flares”. It differs from other GTS models by having extended wheel arches (Flairs), wider (7.5 inch) Campagnolo magnesium wheels and Daytona style seats (Chairs). According to Dino expert Matthias Bartz; fewer than 200 (GT's & Spyders) vehicles were equipped with these options and 65% (approx 130 units) went to the USA market.
This particular Dino was built in February of 1974, and finished when new in Rosso Chiaro Ferrari 20-R-190 Salchi on the external and black leather (Pelle Nero Vaumol Connolly VM 8500).It is a matching numbers car and runs very strong. It has recent mechanical services performed at the factory and authorized Ferrari local dealer with invoices included. It comes with its complete set of OEM books and tools.
It is matching number car; 135 CS engine #11915 is original and complies with all the original specifications, it runs as it should through the RPM range and makes excellent power. Thegearbox 607 E #2989 works great, as well as, the Ventilated Ate disc brakes type along with the Campagnolo spare wheels made of light magnesium alloy.Clutch assembly has been recently replaced and basically, the suspension and chassis are also up to date; when road tested the car feels firm and tight, which confirms that this 246 GTS has been regularly serviced and maintained by the owner.
It has nice luster and the fit and finish are extremely good. The panel fit is very good throughout, and there are only a few small blemishes on the paint and chrome finishes of the rear and side reflectors. The windshield is scratch free. The wheels and tires are in good condition and the car is mounted on a set of Michelin P205/70R 14 tires and spare.
The lights and lenses are in good shape. The interior is all original and in excellent condition, shows way better than the expected wear with its original black carpets. The center console and side sill upholstery also appear to be nicely preserved original Zebu vinyl material. The instruments and controls also are original and well-preserved and all in good working order. The steering wheel is its original leather covering and in great condition. The headliner in the Targa top is in excellent shape.
It features only 57,012 miles over almost fifty years. All systems work as new, and the engine is well tuned, starts instantly, makes great power, and sounds fantastic! The chassis and suspension are tight, A/C blows cold, power window’s movement is fast and efficient as motors were recently replaced and the brakes are effective and responsive. We welcome any mechanical or body inspection.
