1968 to 1973 Ferrari Daytona Spyder 365 / GTB / GTS(Miami Vice) Mcburnie kit Replica. Built in 1987 on a 1980 Corvette C3 chassis. Just over 16000 actual miles. Titled as 1987 Daytona. There are a few different replica companiesout the but this is one of the fewmade by Tom Mcburnie, the maker of the Miami ViceDaytona. From an interview I watched with Tom Mcburnie, he only made about 80 of these...most of which were black. This also may be one of the last ones made since Ferrari won a lawsuit, stopping production around this time. I wish I knew more....
Complete running car needing some mild TLC. Paint isoriginal and has a few poorly done touchups. I was told by the previous owner that it had a 350 small block but according to the VIN info, ithas a305. The carburetor is a 750 DP which is believed to be too much carburetor and theengine is running rich, producing some black smoke when accelerating. The car starts up first turn, idles smooth within a few seconds, runs and drives fine without stalling.I'm no mechanic so I cannot outline any other issues. There are other small fixeslike; left headlight cover doesn't close completely, trunk latch doesn't catch, driver's seat is weak on one side, etc. What needs "fixed" really needsyour own judgement and what is acceptable for a40 year old vehicle.
The black convertible top seems to be fairly new.New alternator and battery. Original Ferrari front and rear signal and brake lights and Ferrari emblems (2 on trunk [prancing horse on back and spelled FERRARI on top], 1 on grill, 1 on hood, 1 each side and 1 on dash).Ferrari gauge cluster, steering wheel, spinners, mirrors, bumpers and grillcould be original Ferrari. Maybe someone with more knowledge can clarify what is Ferrari and what is fabricated. The Mcburnie logo is on the inside of the hood and also on the driver's side; under the door which I have found to be very rare. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to come and see the car. I would prefer a serious buyer to be local enough to come and see the car but I will try to answer any questions I can and send additional pictures if needed.
