1978 Ferrari 308 Berlinetta Additional Info:
Ferrari 308 GTB, steel bodied, carburetor car, an original California car with its proper vintage CA pink slip,
it appears it has been off the road for many years. The shell is absolutely superb, I can find nothing other than a light surface rust on some of the panels, gaps are excellent, all inner frames appear straight and without any damage, including the battery tray and all the extremities of the frame. I can see is no sign of any repair to the frame or inner structures, the VIN is clearly visible and thefiberglass floors and bulkheads are in great shape. The doors are hung on their hinges and open and close easily, the door gaps are excellent, the fitment of the front hood looks factory proper, the rear lid or engine cover fits perfectly but has had a repair on its inner frame. The shell is fitted with its full suspension including Konishocks, steering rack and brake rotors. The motor is in short fitted to the gearbox and I am informed that a new clutch was fitted when the previous owner dismantled the car and started to work on it, I am told that he owned the car for well over 20 yearsand his hope was to fit a larger motor when the California DMV rolled out the smog yearsbeyond the current 1975, his plan was to fit some sort of hot rod motor but when the California government abandoned its creeping Smog legislation the poor old Ferrari was left abandoned in a barn, resulting in its dusty dirty and smelly condition. He had it seems stripped the car down almost as far as one could, even removing the wiring harness. The motor turns over easily, the heads have been removed and all valves have I am told been replaced alongwith their guides, looking at the headsthis certainly appears to be the case, exhaust headers are superb and painted black, apparently the radiator has been reconditioned, it's certainly the original FIM radiator. As you can imagine there are boxes and boxes of spare parts, the 308 can't have been a bad car to start with as the shell is lovely and the interior panels are all there, including the plastic based headliner panel, the dashboard, center console, binnacle and door panels. There are also many trimpanels covered in black vinyl which are thereplans of course the arm rests, sun visors etc. Known to be missing are the factory original seats, the instrument panel including most of thegauges, but the choke and heater slides are still there, so too the blower motors and wiper assembly.
THERE ARE BOXES AND BOXES OF SPARE PARTS, I Have a link to a Photobucket gallery but Ebay won't allow third party links anymore
