‘Red Hills Rods & Classics’ is very proud to offer you this absolutely gorgeous low-mile 1988 Ferrari Testarossa finished in its factory correct Rosso Corsa Red wrapped around a beautiful black leather interior!
The Ferrari Testarossa is a 12-cylinder mid-engine sports car, which went into production in 1984 as the successor to the Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer. The Pininfarina-designed car was produced from 1984 to 1991. Testa Rossa, which literally means 'red head' in Italian, refers to the red-painted cam covers sported by both cars' 12-cylinder engines. The design actually came from Pininfarina. The design team @ Pininfarina consisted of Ian Cameron, Guido Campoli, Diego Ottina and Emanuele Nicosia. With little surprise, they were led by design chief Leonardo Fioravanti, the designer of many contemporary Ferraris. The design was originated by Nicosia, but the guidance of Fioravanti was equally important. Being a trained aerodynamicist, Fioravanti applied his know-how to set the aerodynamics layout of the car. This meant the large side intakes were not only a statement of style but actually functional, as they drew clean air to cool the side radiators, then went upward & left the car through the ventilation holes located at the engine lid & the tail. As a result, the Testarossa did not need a rear spoiler like Lamborghini's Countach yet produced zero lift at its rear axle. Another unique addition to the new design was a single high mounted rear view mirror on the driver's side. On US based cars, the mirror was lowered to a more normal placement in 1987 & quickly joined by a passenger side rear view mirror for the driver to be able to make safe easy lane changes. We know that the hit television series, ‘Miami Vice’, had plenty of fans in its heyday, and the Testarossa was a big part of the attraction!
This gorgeous 13,950 original mile example is in mint condition throughout and has been meticulously cared for & maintained since day one! The original Rosso Corsa paint is beautiful w/ lots of shine and still looks 100% show worthy. You would never in a million years imagine that this car is nearly 30 years old! Two sets of wheels will go with this car, the later style Ferrari wheels which are currently on the car (owners preference), as well as the original 1988 Testarossa wheels, which are in excellent condition. Open the driver’s door and you will find an all-original interior in mint collector-grade condition throughout! The original black leather seats are beautiful with no cracks, rips, or tears, and all of the original gauges, lights, turn signals, air conditioning, etc., are in perfect working order. Inside the beautifully detailed trunk area you will find the original Ferrari tools/tool bag, the original jack assembly, as well as the original brown leather Ferrari binder w/ original Ferrari Testarossa Owners Manuals.
Open the rear hood and nestled inside the super clean engine bay you will find the original 4.9 Litre (301.6 cu in) Ferrari Flat-12 mid-mounted engine, linked to the original 5-speed manual gearbox. The Major Belt Service was performed at 9750 miles, and receipts for work performed will of course go with the car. I assure you, this is no powder puff with all looks and no guts. The Ferrari Testarossa can accelerate from 0–60 mph in 5.2 seconds and on to 100 mph in 11.40 seconds. It can complete a standing quarter mile in 13.50 seconds, with a maximum speed of 180 mph! These cars are an absolute BLAST to drive, but don’t buy one if you don’t like attention. Every stoplight, you will see thumbs up from everyone, with people snapping photos with their smarphones!
