1958 Edsel Pacer MEL Additional Info:
1958 Edsel Pacer, Purchased from an Estate Sale, same owner 45 years. It is a hard top model, very complete and mostly intact. Was parked in barn for decades.
Not running, has not ran in 20 years, rolls and steers just fine. Has been repainted once a different shade (but appears to be 58 Edsel Jonquil Yellow) probably in 1970s, and a aftermarket automatic floor shift installed on the drive tunnel (Teletouch trans is a cool concept and looks fantastic but, not always reliable and difficult to work on), Honestly I would keep the floor shift for reliability reasons, doesn't look too bad.. or Just throw your hat over it when parked!
3 or 4 minor repairable rust spots in floor boards and passenger front door sill and 2-3 x relatively small holes in trunk exact spot either side (mainly due to old rubber flooring retaining moisture, both trunk and interior), Some rust in battery tray area as well, otherwise quite complete and overall very solid. Floors underneath actually look pretty darn good from what I can tell. Keys it came with don't seem to fit. All four doors align nicely.
Would make a super nice driver once its up and running again, with some basic restoration, minor details and a good deep cleaning. I just like looking at it, truly a good looking car too bad I don't have more indoor parking space!
I don't know what it needs mechanically, expect the worst and hope for the best. It is complete under the hood down to the wing nut on the air cleaner. If you oil it up first, let it soak, it may all come back to life. Was told car drove in and was parked before its 20 year + slumber. I don't have the time or space but, what a great car with plenty of potential and of unique historic significance.
NO FIRST TIME BIDDERS PLEASE, I must insist. If you have less than 10 feedback?, email me prior to bidding/offers with your intentions. No exceptions, been burned too many time.
Partial Vin# can be given to serious/real BIDDERS upon request. I don't really want to plaster this cars or any others statistics all over the internet. Its privacy should be respected. And besides no one really needs to know the vin number until they buy it anyway, its not like your going to run a Car Fax report or like it's the first one off the assembly line. (FYI: First 4x didgets reads W8U, color code plate is: N-E-E, Body: 57B, TRIM: R, DATE: 27J TRANS: 4 AXLE :A)
I do have the IA title on this car in hand. This car is priced to sell but, if you want to make reasonable offer please feel free to submit it.
