Cushman is a manufacturer of industrial personal and custom vehicles. It is currently based in Augusta Georgia United States and is owned by Textron. Some late-1950s Cushmans designated Road King and Pacemaker had jet-age body styling. Sears sold a version of these models under the Allstate brand. Cushman scooters featured an automatic centrifugal clutch which allowed the rider to twist the right grip to accelerate. Oddly the throttle twisted forward during acceleration opposite the usual patte...rn in most other motorcycles and scooters. Cushman claimed 75 miles per gallon and advertised penny-a-mile operating cost. Cushman scooters usually weighed about 250 to 335 pounds and had as much as 9 horsepower. In comparison to European scooters. GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1957 Cushman Eagle for consideration. This Cushman has been fully restored in 2012 and features only 532 miles on it since completion. Powering this scooter is an 8 horsepower engine that was rebuilt along with the restoration in 2012 paired with the motor is a 2 speed CVT transmission that was also rebuilt during the restoration process. The current owner also added an electric starter for convenience which works great! This Eagle took first place at the Cushman of Indiana show in 2012.
