1964 Dodge Polara Additional Info:

1964 Dodge Polara

I bought this car no-engine from Collector Motors in Houston, X. Then bought the mid 70’s 440 which never quite worked well in the car. Might have to do with internal v. external balance. I had weights welded to the torque converter, ut still not right.

I had door panels and back seat reupholstered, overing just the bad areas, nd preserving the tri-star and swirly embossing from the factory materials. Door panels still need installed. Needs headliner and carpet. Inside window trim is all pitted and rusted, eeds sand blast and rechrome or paint.

I think the car may have had race history, s the nose was high and it had traction bars when I got it.

Some rust repair in floors but they are good now. A little bubbling over the right rear wheel, ut doesn’t seem to worsen. I think between race history and coming from the Southeast (before texas) that it didn’t have much rust, o repairs were probably minimal. An “up” ding in the hood, hanks to a mechanic, am sure. All in all, good 20 footer. Nice paint, ot perfect, ut head turner. Straight! It’s been outside for a while now, ometimes covered, ometimes not. The roof and hood have faded out from sun. Maybe can be brought back, aybe repaint the top in blue, nd I always wanted to paint the hood in flat black

Mostly complete. Missing hood lip trim (thanks to mechanic again) and one roof side panel tristar.

Tires are old 14’s on rally rims. They have tread, ut bad sidewalls. Just for rolling around. You will need new tires for street use!

It runs but not well and not consistent. We may have resolved some issues by fixing some loose connections on the ignition. Still backfires and pops sometimes, aybe a sticking valve. It used to chirp the tires when shifting. The tranny has gone bad from sitting.

I am offering the car, n THIS SALE, s-Is, here-Is. Mystery engine, nd bad tranny. A good Mopar mechanic can probably fix the engine. The push-button tranny needs rebuild. Please satisfy your questions by examining photos, r come and see the car. There are no guarantees or warrantees with this car.

Most of these pics are a few years old. They represent the car fairly well. Pay particular attention to the last 3 pics, hich are days old, nd show the sun fading on top surfaces!

Not Included: I have a fresh Non-push-button 727 tranny and torque converter, ebuilt by Don’s Automotive in Denver, O, t a cost of $1000. This will probably mate up better with the 70’s 383 that’s in the car now. ADD $1000 for the rebuilt tranny. You will need to install a column or floor shifter to make it work.

Not Included: I also have a 383 Road Runner engine that’s fresh built with all cool, intage speed components. Inquire if interested in the engine. It would be on the side, ou haul, ou install, s-Is, here-Is.
