I’ve owned and restored roughly twenty five 1960’s muscle cars and cruisers since 2001. I’ve done a couple full ‘frame off’ restorations with lots of help from a good friend who is a respected restorer and owns a large shop with an excellent reputation. I’m not an expert or professional mechanic/body man but I have done enough work and owned enough of these cars to have resources and a good idea of what goes into restoring, maintaining or just enjoying them. My eBay feedback is 100% with 256 transactions.
Want to own a killer MOPAR without breaking the bank? This is it! Great driver or a candidate for full restoration or resto-mod. Needs some TLC here and there but runs and drives, it’s registered & inspected and it is fast, even with the tall gears in it! (Comes with 3.25’s – see section on rear end and differential) I haven’t owned the car long but I’ve described it in detail below including both the good and the bad as well what I don’t know just as I would want to see it if I were buying so if you’re a real buyer please read ALL of this information and then let me know if you have questions. I also have more pix if you want them.

Documentation:
The VIN decodes as a 1967 Coronet 500 2 door hardtop with 383 engine.
This is the best I could get using a popular online data tag decoder. See pic of data tag if you want to decode further. The build sheet came with the car but was in pieces. I taped it back together.

Exterior, Body, Trunk & Undercarriage: Paint job is a 20 footer. Some runs and drips. Looks like the lower rear quarters were patched and have some fudge. Trunk and drop offs are very solid and appear original. Passenger side inner fender well looks like it has been hammered out and the car came with a replacement inner fender well when I got it. My sense it probably had a small fender bender on that side at one point. Frame does not appear to have been effected.
Interior: The interior is in excellent condition. No dash cracks, no tears in the upholstery, headliner is excellent, carpet is newer. Steering wheel is in excellent shape are the door panels. Heater box was removed and comes with the car. (Previous owner intended to add AC) There is currently a metal patch covering the hole in the engine bay where the heater box was. Fuel gauge does not work. Aftermarket tach, oil pressure, water temp and voltage gauges are working.
Engine: Casting numbers verify that it is a 1959-1971 383 motor, not sure if it’s original. Appears to have a mild cam but I don’t have the specs. (Vacuum at idle is 8 so nothing radical) Pertronix electronic ignition installed, original points come with the car. The car does have a nasty flat spot that I have not been able to tune out. When you stomp on it – it falls flat for a second and then surges back. Tried a larger squirter in the front and power jet but it’s still there. Timing and idle seems to be where it should be. Could be the timing advance? Definitely gets better as the car gets warmed up. I don’t know the history of the motor but it seems like it was out of the car and worked on at some point.
Carburetor: Holley 4779-7 4 BBL 750 cfm double pumper with 4 corner idle adjust. Nice carb – these are $500-$600 new.
Rear End & Differential: MOPAR 8 ¾ rear end with sure grip. (limited slip – posi) Gears are fairly high but the car comes with a second differential that has 3.25’s in it. It’s already fast and I imagine it will scream with that gear ratio.
Exhaust: Newer front to back with hooker headers flowmaster mufflers. The car sounds great as you can hear in the video.
Transmission: Appears to be a 3 speed Torquflite, I don’t see a tag so I’m not sure if it’s original.
Electrical: All exterior lights are in good working order to include the headlights, tail lights, fog lights, blinkers, backup lights and the plate light. All interior lights are also in good working order to include the dash lights, high beam light, blinkers and console gauge lights. Probably could be fixed with a new headlight switch. Aftermarket water temperature & oil pressure gauges are functional as is the aftermarket tachometer. The speedometer works.
Mechanical: Car does have a bit of play in the steering. Not sure if it’s the power? Occasionally get some squealing I think from the power steering.
I have tried very hard through description, photos and video to present this 1967 Dodge Coronet 500 honestly and fairly but may have missed something, so feel free to ask questions.
