The Futuristic Charger was an instant hit when it was introduced in 1966, and it arguably made the long fastback coupe a staple of American car design. Only produced for 2 years (1966, 67) the first generation Charger offered "2+2" seating with a center console that extended through the rear cabin and split the rear bucket seats. Powerful engines were on tap, with the big block 383 4 barrel a popular option. It produced 325 horsepower and 425 ft lbs of torque giving the Charger the power to move down the road very rapidly.
This example is a completely original, rust and accident free car. It is still in its original paint. It came with the high performance383 4 barrel, automatic transmission, and it runs well.The fender tag decodes as follows:

The original red paint still shines well but has flaws on the horizontal surfaces where the paint is worn through in spots. There are various chips and dings around the car. It has never been in an accident and there has never been any rust. Every piece of sheetmetal on the car is original and untouched. See photos in the gallery of the clean underside and mint trunk floor. The original chrome is kinda foggy but still has some shine. There are some dings in the bumpers.
The interior is completely original as well. All of the chrome bits and trim is still intact. The black vinyl upholstery and carpeting show a lot of wear and have some rips and tears, as well as the dash. The headliner is excellent and needs nothing.
The engine starts easily and runs great. It pulls with tons of power and doesn't smoke or leak. The floor shift transmission shifts beautifully. The four wheel drum brakes work well. Some of the dash components are not working. The wipers, lights and interior lights do work.
One of the coolest things on this car are the aluminum "Sprint" style wheels. They are staggered (7" front and 8" rear I believe) and are beautiful. They include the knock-off hub covers and all of them are in excellent shape. The wheels alone would likely set you back $1500-2000 IF you could find a set.
The rarest thing about this Charger is the originality.A "restored" big block Charger will be more than twice the price and you really don't know what you're buying. If you appreciate a well patina'd vintage car that has a beautiful original body with original paint and has never been messed with then this one may be for you. This car has California registration until June, 2027 and comes with a clear CA title in my name.
