Up for sale is my 1940 Dodge WC3 1/2 Ton Open Cab Truck. This is from my personal collection of classic car projects! The truck is an incredible survivor and example of the pre war contracts for the US Government. The DOD on this truck is 12-5-40 There were only about 2 thousand of this model trucks were ever built! This truck was built a year before Pearl Harbor. I am the 3rd owner since the truck was sold surplus in 1945. The story on this rig is that it was a US Navy truck that was assigned to an aircraft carrier and was used for getting provisions for the ship while in foreign ports. Many details of this truck support those allegations. The paint underneath is Battleship Grey, the truck has almost all of its original parts. OG rims dated '40 & '41, King Bee reflectors, cat's eye tail lights, and the rear troop step that looks to be fabed by sailors on the ship. You can tell by the material and the type and quality of the welds on the rear step. The motor is an original T207-943**. About the motor...... It has a spun bearing that happened in Nov. 2020. The motor has a horizontal crack below the head. This is a common "Freeze" crack in the water jacket. I repaired and ran fine for over 10 years with only small weeping from crack. The truck was totally gone through mechanically. The civilian style gages were all restored and ready to be installed. Electrical was updated and hidden in period wiring looms. I sourced many of the hard to find items bucket seats, inner windshield frame, tailgate. I am including the 6 blasted & primed OG wheels ('40+'41) and an original NDT Firestone 7.50 for the spare tire. Other than that this is a show stopper! I have been overseas through Europe with my GPW, 6K miles through 6 countries, and I can count on 1 hand how many of these trucks I saw. Less than 5! I only put about 750 miles in the 14 yrs I have owned it. The truck has a clean Ca. title and is currently Non Op.I am also including this 1944-45 Ben Hur wooden 1/2 Ton Trailer. This is a complete example of the wooden version of the correct trailer for this truck. The wood is rotten for sure..., but all of the goodies are on this Ol' Girl. No Data plate for the Ben Hur. I have a bill of sale for the trailer. Never titled. I have many extras that can be discussed after transaction is complete.I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime. The buyer is responsible for arranging for shipping or local pick up. $500 deposit is required at the time of the end of the auction.
