This 1978 Dodge Magnum is a true one-off Pro Street / Pro Touring creation built with no expense spared. Originally designed as Dodge's luxury performance coupe of the late 1970s, this Magnum has been completely reimagined into a purpose-built powerhouse that blends drag-strip aggression with show-quality craftsmanship and street-ready reliability.
Under the hood sits a hand-built 512 cubic inch stroker V8 by Ridge Reamer, Inc. of Arvada, Colorado-an absolute monster producing 700 horsepower on pump gas and 728 lb-ft of torque. The engine features top-tier components throughout, including an Eagle 8-bolt crank, Eagle H-beam rods, Mahle coated pistons, ARP studded mains, Milodon oiling system, Crane hydraulic roller cam and lifters, Edelbrock Victor aluminum heads and intake, a Quick Fuel 950 carburetor, and TTI ceramic-coated headers feeding a 3.5-inch exhaust with an X-pipe. A custom fiberglass hood caps off the look while improving cooling and airflow for the massive powerplant.
Power is sent through a competition-built 727 TorqueFlite transmission equipped with a Coan 10-inch billet stator torque converter, B&M flex plate, TCI deep pan, and a reverse manual valve body. The drivetrain is reinforced by a Strange S60 rear end with 35-spline axles, 3.73 gears, and a Detroit Locker differential.
The chassis and suspension have been fully re-engineered for strength and performance. Frame ties made of 2x3-inch box steel are welded front to rear, paired with a Competition Engineering 4-link rear setup, adjustable coilovers, and chromoly wheelie bars. Up front, Firm Feel Inc. components, tubular control arms, reinforced lower arms, Bilstein shocks, and a custom sway bar deliver stability and confidence at any speed. Braking is handled by a Wilwood 4-wheel disc setup with hydro-boost assist, line-lock system, and dual parachutes for the strip.
The exterior retains the Magnum's signature T-top roof and muscular stance, finished in deep gloss black accented by Billet Specialties Street Lite wheels-15x6 up front and massive 15x14 double-beadlock rears-wrapped in Mickey Thompson and Hoosier Pro Street radials. The car rides low, mean, and unmistakably aggressive.
Inside, the car features a full 8-point roll cage, RCI 5-point harnesses, Gen 3 Dodge Viper leather bucket seats, Autometer Phantom gauges, and custom suede, aluminum, and carbon-fiber trim. A center console-mounted reverse manual shifter and dual Nitrous Outlet bottles remind you this build means business.
Every detail of this 1978 Dodge Magnum reflects a vision of total performance without compromise. It's a fully sorted, professionally engineered machine that merges old-school Mopar attitude with modern capability-ready for the strip, the street, or the show circuit.
