1960 Dodge Phoenix 2 door coupe with 9,022 original miles on it. (not 109,022)
318cid V8 engine with automatic transmission.
Family owned since the early 1970's, and the car has sat for a long time in a garage, so it definitely needs work. The brakes go to the floor (we added fluid but didn't bleed the brakes), so right now there are no brakes except for the emergency brake. The black paint on the hubcaps are starting to peel off, but there are no dents or scuffs on them. The headliner is pretty decent, except for the driver side sun visor, which had started to break away. There is a small dent in the front of the hood (it can be seen in the photos). No other dents but various chips in the paint. This Dodge Phoenix was actually repainted in 1961, so it's technically not 100% original, but it is original paint from that era. With a proper detailing, it should shine like new. The tires are from the 1970's, but they hold air for towing it.
The interior is in very good condition. No major cracking or wear and tear on the seats. The armrest on the driver side door has split at the seams. No cracks at all on the dash board or steering wheel. I haven't tested the radio to see if it still works. Trunk still has the original spare tire from 1960.
No rust underneath besides some surface rust where the undercoating peeled off . The frame is solid. Not sure if the sending unit on the gas tank is working, or how much gas is in the tank. But it could use a full fuel system flush from sitting for so long. I have Pennsylvania state inspection receipts stating the car had around 8,000 miles in the late 70's and early 80's. The car was last inspected in 1996, and the most recent service record I have before that is from 2/27/1987 stating the car had 8,547 miles. My dad had to move the distributor a notch at one point years ago to get it running, so not sure if it needs a timing chain. The recent video of the car idling was from March 2026 when we started her for the first time in 5 years.
So again, it's been sitting for a long time, but with some mechanical work, this would be a perfect contender for a full restoration.
