1976 Dodge Royal Monaco Additional Info:
Hey there. You are looking at a 1976 Dodge Royal Monaco 6 passenger station wagon. This car was bought brand new in Edmonton,Alberta at Derrick Dodge/Chrysler. Not sure when it made it down to the states-but it was a long time ago. This is a rare one-1 of 547 made.
The engine is a 400 big block-and it runs very nice-in fact-I drove it today to the place where it is now stored away. No issues. No leaks,no smoke-nothing. Transmission shifts smooth as well. No problem on the freeway-70 is a breeze.
This car has typical rust as these tended to get. Drivers side "dog leg",the spot above the rear wheel opening molding and lower quarters. The passenger fender could probably just be replaced with a nicer one.
This car is a factory AC delete car-so if you're looking for air conditioning-it's not here.
I have started working on it here and there to see if she can come back and get nicer-and it can. I have redone the tail lights, window panel up on the top of the tailgate and center divider. I also did the chrome accents on the dash by hand.
I was just using this to haul around stuff and move art pieces around. With the seat down-you can fit an 8x4 sheet of plywood back there with no problem.
I've been looking for parts for this car-and found some things and other cars that have compatible parts. The gas cap cover needs a new bracket-which will be same on the Chrysler Town and Country and the Plymouth Sport Suburban. The entire front clip is basic 1975-1978 Dodge Royal Monaco. Dash pieces are also the same minus the face which you don't need. Parts from 4 door will bolt right on. If you plan on restoring this wagon or working on it-that should help point you in the right direction.
I do plan on cleaning it more and getting things a bit nicer for the next person to work with. I enjoy saving cars and putting them back on the road and bringing back a little dignity to them. That's what keeps me going.
I'm no stranger to 70's land barges-I've owned a ton of them over the years so I can help you if you need it. Not sure what to say really except it goes to good home and someone picks up where I'm going to leave off.
This wagon is daily driver. Hop in and take off. Restore it,make a rat rod from it,drive it as is-it's a blank slate for your vision.
I forgot the mention-the frame, floors and rockers are solid on this wagon. There is one spot on the rear floor in the very back where the little storage compartment is that will need a patch.
