1939 Dodge Other Additional Info:
1939 Dodge D11 Business Coupe . Condition is Used. Dad bought a close replica of his "courting car" in 1974 out of a farmer's yard. He had it painted, got it running but got busy. It sat indoors, untouched until 2007 when I broke it out of storage with the plan to surprise Dad with it running and hopefully, with a restored interior. We got it running, found brake parts and a classic car specialist to redo the brakes. All went well until the interior. Place after place either turned me down or made an appointment in the future, only to cancel later. I finally found a shop that would do it. They kept delaying but were making small progress. I kept pushing, with my dad's 90th birthday party as a goal. I wanted the car at the party, restored and on display as a gift for Dad. They took too long, finishing 10 days after Dad passed away. He did get to see it once, well along in the process. It's unfortunate that it took so long and cost so much (nearly $6,000), but they did a beautiful job.
It is a true survivor. Body, frame, engine, transmission are all original. Photos show how sound the frame and body are. I have only driven the car on/off trailer, in and out of garage and around the block. It has been stored in a garage.Following is a list of the recent work done on the car:
- New headliner, seats, door panels, interior trunk access door/panel covering, floor covering; all to period look (2014)
- New tires (2017)
- New battery (2017)
- Master cylinder, wheel cylinders, shoes, many brake lines replaced; drums surfaced (2017)
- Front wheel seals replaced (2017)
- Light wiring redone (2017)
- Fuel pump replaced (2017)
- Carburetor rebuilt (2017)
- (I have receipts to support the above work, all done by professional providers.)
(Title is a "bonded title", due to out-of-state estate process. Bonded branding comes off title July, 2020. Seller guarantees title.)
