1951 Dodge Wayfarer Additional Info:
We purchased the car in upstate NY in 1981 as a completely original driver to have something to take to car shows and mess around with our kids. It came home to Michigan with us a couple years later where I repainted it, pinstriped it, and installed a new interior. Still original drivetrain. In early nineties I decided to turn it into a custom rod. Body off chassis onto rotisserie, 1971 PS Nova front clip freshened and grafted, 10 bolt Chevy rear added, 400 SBC with 350 Turbo rebuilt and installed with Lokar accessories. While the body was off, new floors were added where needed, holes filled in the firewall, power brakes/master cylinder were installed and body mounts rebuilt. It was then painted with Chromabase yellow and reinstalled on the blasted and painted frame with new rubber and bolts. A polished stainless exhaust was added. A bench seat from a mid 70's Dodge 2 door was installed along with the tilt steering column. It was yard drivable, as it remains today. You know the story; kids, college, careers, other old cars, etc...and all of a sudden another 20 years have passed and I still haven't finished my garage queen. Retired to Florida, other old cars/trucks come and go, work on the queen off and on. Installed power bearclaw door latches with power locks, cleaned up the inner fenderwells, frenched 49 Ford LED taillights, installed one piece window track with Specialty Power Window setup, began reshaping grille area, replaced original radiator with an aluminum 4 core with a shroud and fan, replaced gas tank with a new one, rebuilt the carb (was new when originally installed), new shocks all around, new fuel pump, etc., etc...
Some of the additional parts I have for this car; NOS rear fenders (hanging up in picture), NOS front left fender, complete set of Classic Instrument gauges in the box, Mallory Unilite distributor, set of Mark VIII power seats with console, 1951 Plymouth dash and lots of other parts. Only glass I have is the rear window, everything else is flat and will need to be made. Tires are old and will need to be replaced. No wiring at this point, only enough to start it and run the radiator fan.
I currently have this, plus a 1971 Riviera project, a mostly finished 1936 Chevy street rod, and my daily driver, a 2005 Dodge Magnum RT with 49K miles.I'm listing all 4 and plan on selling at least 2. Age is catching up, new hip, and no way do I have enough time to finish the 2 projects plus keep the other 2 happy. Message me with any questions or we can arrange a phone conversation.
If your really interested, I can arrange a showing at my shop.
