1956 Dodge Panel Truck Additional Info:
Up for bid is a 1956 Dodge Panel Truck, Job Rated 1/2 ton, NO engine or trans. This is really a solid old truck with a few small issues here and there. My dad purchased this truck at an auction in Gas City Ks 1991 and has been in dry storage since. This was originally an Ellis Dry cleaner truck and then Schell Dry Cleaners truck. (you can still make out the original lettering and is almost totally faded away). As you can tell, the bottom of truck has been repainted sometime between '56 and '66. Truck was last tagged in '66 in Allen County KS.
The truck does have surface rust as you can see, due to paint just being thin. The rust you see is the same rust is had in 1991. The front of the floors have some pit type rust and about a 1" X 3" rust out area where toe board and floor board meet on passenger side. (If I kept it, I would sand floors down and coat good with Por 15). The tunnel was unbolted and taken out in pictures and will need major repair or replaced. The wood flooring in back is in great shape and still painted black. The passenger side door has a 2 inch sized rust hole in the very front of door and only seen when opened up (look in pics). There is some small rust spots in passenger outside door toward the front (see pics). The left rear door has rust as seen in pics on inside but would not be hard to make a patch for. The right rear door has some rust starting at the bottom outside. The passenger rear wheel area looks to have been repaired at some point and has some rust on wheel lip. Truck is missing trim on bottom portion of right rear wheel area and trim dented on left rear. Missing right wing window latch. Battery box bottom is pretty rusty and I do have the cover for it that goes in floor in great shape. Missing mirrors.
All the windows are up in pics and intact with no cracks but some do have bubbles forming on edges. Roof looks to be very straight with no dents seen. Doors close like new, cowl vent opens, hood latches, front windows roll down. Still has complete wiper assembly and factory heater. Original glass tail lights and park lights in good shape. Has original gas tank. Frame is in excellent shape, all suspension intact.
Brakes are non functional, no keys, no seat, but will roll and steer. Tires and wheels are there for rolling purposes only, does not have original wheels. Odometer shows 47,740 but not sure if rolled over or not.
All in all, this is a good solid truck that could easily be rebuilt. It's getting hard to find a panel truck this old and in this condition. Truck has not had ANY body or paint work done to it since purchased in 1991. I did spray a clear coat on floor board where it was pitting that is all.
Clean and clear MO title.
