1979 Dodge D50 Sport. 2.6 Mitsubishi 4 cylinder engine with automatic trans. When I purchased this truck it had been sitting for what looks to be about 12 years in a field.
Things I've done over the last few months since I've acquired it.
It has a new alternato, fuel pump, radiator, valve seals and new tires on it. There is a spot in the engine harness that has been repaired a rodent had been eating on it. I have driven it down the road a few blocks but that is all since it does not have a current inspection or tags.
I noticed when changing the valve seals the head appears to be an updated version as it no longer had the troublesome jet valve setup on it andthe head was very clean!
The carb is still the original SOLEX carb,(they where junk from day one ive been told).Thechoke and secondary diagfram where locked up, I removed those items and cleaned up the carb as good as I couldto get it running. It does run. It is hard to start sometimes. it really needs a new carb setupand im told Weber makes a carb conversion kit for this engine and that's what mostpeople go with that have these trucks.
Paint is weathered from sitting out in the open for years and enduring the elements, ive noticedthe passenger side seems to have weathered more, im guessing the passenger side took most of elements and sun.
There are no majors dents and ive see no rust through on the truck, itappears solid.
Interior appears to be all original and needs restored, personally it wouldn't bother me to just leave it as is for a driver.
It will need a passenger tail-light lense, wiper blades and possiblenew frontbrake pads (as they are very thin)to pass TEXAS inspection
Clear Texas Title in my name.
This truck will drive up on a trailer/car hauler with no problem with a jumpstart ( I think the battery is going bad)
