The first-generation models were built only from 1970-74, but it was duringthe first two years, when the R/T performance package was available, that created the legend.
Challengers R/Ts could be optioned with 340, 383, 440,and the race-engine-turned-street-sweeper 426 Hemi engine.
This gorgeous example was one of the 150 built in 1970 using the A102 Hemi-A727 automatic driveline combination.
What makes the example beingsold here unique is that it retains its original 426 Hemi engine, backed by an automatic transmission and Dana 4.10:1
Sure Grip differential that wasoptioned as part of the A34 Super Track Pack; this included cooling upgrades and power front disc brakes as well.
It has been returned to exacting OEM condition, complete with undercarriage detailing.
Among the other options werepower steering, dual exhaust with special tips, scalloped hood with hood pins, plus chrome hood and decal-applique air cleaner 426 Hemi callouts.
Furthermore, a dramatic color combination finishes the car, with an FK5 Dark Burnt Orange exterior, matching K4-code Burnt Orange interior, Blackvinyl roof, body-color steel wheels and Black longitudinal striping.
The interior features the leather insert seat option, console with ball-topped SlapStick shifter, and factory radio.
In the trunk is the Space Saver spare and inflator bottle, and jacking equipment. Goodyear Polyglas GT tires complete the package.
