1966 Dodge Polara Additional Info:
1966 Dodge Polara Big Block Hardtop 2 door Coupe. Has rebuilt Edelbrock performer carb but also includes Dual quad Offenhauser intake, carbs, air filters, and new valley pan gasket. Edelbrock 2x4 500cfm Carbs on dual quad setup are new this year. The entire setup runs about $1300This is a fantastic car that drives like a dream and has a ton of power. It's waaaaay better than a 20 footer. Paint and interior quality are great even on close inspection. None of that nasty orange peel you tend to be disapointed by with on auction cars. You could be proud to drive this to shows with the family and drive it to work on Monday as well, ...like I have. I'd seriously jump in this thing and drive it cross-country tomorrow.
Runs drives and stops great, Driven 32 miles daily with 2 children in the back. Engine stays at 185 degrees all the time.Paint and bodywork are very respectable. Panel alignment is good and doors shut properly. Has a ton of curb appeal. I'd give it an 8 out of 10Interior is very nice. Seat covers, door panels, and headliner all look great and carpet is new. Tilt and telescoping column. I'd give the interior an 8.5 out of 10
Trim and brightwork are complete but this would be the area to work on next. Imperfections include some pitting and dings. The rear bumper isn't perfect. Nit picky stuff considering the drivetrain, paint, body, interior, wheels, tires, etc... are all done. Suspension, steering, brakes all function properly. Steering alignment is perfect. Wheel is straight, no pulls and no tire wear, no exhaust leaks, no significant fluid leaks. trans kicks down properly and shifts firmly.Engine is a 68 .030 over 383 with the 66 heads. Cam is stock or very mild. Only mods are the carb, electronic ignition, and exhaust Flowmaster type mufflers727 with a mild shift kit. firm shifts but not barking the tires. Rear is a 742 carrier 8 3/4, stock gears. Goes down the highway at 80 or so.I drove it with the dual quad setup for quite a while. I pulled them off in hopes of saving them for my next project, but am now including them in the sale. The car ran great with them, but the previous owner had them direct linked to one another instead of progressively (so one would open before the other). Having both carbs open at the same time isn't ideal for mileage or tuning. You'll need to create linkage for it or just purchase the kit through Summit.

In the spirit of full disclosure, here are the few quirks.Blower motor switch, Temperature switch, and vents function properly but the vacuum switch for the vent/floor blend door is inoperable. It's set to Defrost to keep the windshield clear, but will heat the cabin very well and will cook you out if you crank it. I've yet to see a Mopar this old where the vacuum switch works. The last 5 I've owned have been stuck in one mode or another. Windows stay clear, ....I stay warm. Haven't looked into fixing this either.Radio comes on and speakers will crackle if you turn it on or mess with the fader knob, but doesn't play musicWindows need adjustment. I haven't dug into it yet, but the front and rear windows don't align perfectly unless you fiddle with how far you have them rolled up.The only rust I've found is an area in the passengers floor pan about 4x8 inches of perforation which has been patched from a previously leaking heater core, ...hence the new carpet.
Please ask questions. My seller rating is indicative of my honesty. I just want to make a fair sale.
I really have enjoyed the car, but am hell bent on finding the 62 Dart or 63 Savoy that I've dreamt of for years and need to sell this to make it happen. Thanks, Todd
