This 1968 Dodge Polara is ready to be driven. There are receipts for thousands of dollars not including labor of money spent to make it a dependable daily driver. It looks dried and worn on the outside but performs very well. I would say 100% rust free but there are some small holes forming in the trunk floor where the mat was. The chassis is solid as Arizona cars should be.
Three years ago this car was rescued from a field in Phoenix. It appears to have been sitting for many years. Baking in the sun. Originally option with factory air conditioning, a 38, and a 727 automatic transmission. This Polara has been refreshed and modernized with many upgrades I will list below.
Body:The paint is 100% original.Dry rust fre, besides a few small holes in the truck and scale all over the chassis. Solid everywhere as a Phoenix Arizona car normally is. I have crawled all of the car. The only spots of structural rust are in the trunk. There was a large dent in the drivers door which has been mostly pulled. there is evidence of dents and scratches over much of the body.
Interior: The interior was completely sun baked and worn when the car was brought out of the field. Once removed and the wiring had been sorted out. The floor was completelydynomatted. New carpets, seats, and headliner was installed. Door panels were repaired, and show OK. The car is currently a bit dirty from use, but is being cleaned up prior to an owner taking delivery. All of the gaugeswork, the AC blows cold.
Suspension: A new front end was installed includingsway bars, moog full front end rebuild. Lowering with new springs and new rubber bushings. The car drives smooth, not harsh, and handles well for a big car. Power disk brakes have been added to the front. The rear remain drum but work well. The 383 was completely rebuilt, and now has about 5000 proven miles on it. The receiptsfor the build are availableas is the specs on the cam. Heads were redone to a slightly better the stock specifications. The Transmission was rebuilt. The motor and Transmission were reinstalled with a modern Sanden A/C compressor as well as larger re cored radiator and new hoses/belt. The exhausthas just been redone using 2/ 1/2 inch pipe, and Flowmaster mufflers. The motorpurrs at idleand screamswhen hammered. As a big block MOPAR should.
On photograph day we took the Polara to a great spot in the hills of North of Phoenix. It was a blazinghot day. At least 108. We drove about 6 miles each way and let it run during the photo session. Not only did the motor not overheat the A/C kept the interior cool with out window tint. I have had newer cars that could not do that. Please go to the Google photo link and take a look. There are videos and detailed pictures documenting the work. I say this again. Currently the car is in a bit dirty driver condition. We will have it cleaned up for the next owner.
Please call me at 602-908-9267 to discuss the car. I rarelyhave a car get to the end of an auction. I typically set a price that is fair and I sell it to the person willing to pay. The car is availablein Phoenix for inspection if someone would like to do so.
