The good. Cranks. Runs . Stops.
The Bad - 1 flat tire. NO TITLE
The story: I picked this van up at an estate sale where the van had been sitting in a garage for years. I took her home and for the past two years I've been bringing her back to life with dreams of turning her into an awesome 70s van I can put my motorcycle in and have adventures around the country in. I recently moved and no longer have a garage to work on her and my wife unfortunately cant see the awesome potential this van has and has made me list it on ebay.
Over the past two years Ive focused on really working on getting her mechanically sound with the idea that once she is bulletprooof, I would start on the paint and body.
Her is a list of what I have replaced
New batteryNew battery cablesNew starter1 brand new tireNew alternatorNew voltage regulatorNew fuel linesNew carbureatorNew fuel tankRebuilt rear brakesNew rear brake linesNew fuel linesFlushed radiatorNew oil changeFlushed transmission and new tranny filter
The van cranks and purrs every time . I have driven her around town a few times but you will need to pick her up on a trailer as she has 1 tire with a slow leak. I can probably get it to hold air long enough to get it on your trailer. It has 1 brand new tire, but the other 3 are old and crappy. This is still a project. I have run new solid rear brake lines and have rebuilt the rear drum brakes. It needs new front brake lines and new rotors and pads. When I flushed the transmission I didnt seat the pan very well and it leaks from the tranny pan and you will need to re seal it. The linkage on the steering column needs to be adjusted. The van is sitting outside now so its dirty. It is an almost 50 year old van. The engine runs strong, the transmission works as expected. The body is straight and doesnt appear to have ever been wrecked. This is a NC van and was last tagged in NC. It does not have rust issues on the frame or floor pans. It does have rust on the wheel wells that will need to be addressed. The doors and body look ok but there is the expected rust out on the edge of the front wheel wells. All the glass is there and in good condition but the seals have not been replaced. The headlights work.
The van does not have a title. I bought it from an estate sale. The estate had lost the title and since it didnt run when I bought it they sold it for parts and did not think it was worth the hassle of applying for a lost title. I dumped way more money and work into this thing than I should have but Its an awesome van and a little more work and a paint job and it would really get attention at cruise ins or car shows. Plus it has the big 360 V8 if you need to haul stuff with it. Many states like GA or Vermont will give you a tag without a title. In fact I spoke with the DMV in Vermont and they will give anyone a registration and tag for this van even if you do not live in Vermont. Google it or I will point you in the right direction. This is what I was going to do once I started on the body work. Please ask questions and do not bid if you are not prepared to pay. Thanks
