The Coronet was a midsize, mid level car produced by Dodge in various forms from 1949 till 1976. One of the most popular version was the affordable 1965-1970 5th generation models. Sitting on the B body with a 117in wheelbase, the Coronet was Dodge's most popular model for 1965, with 209,000 units sold. THe cars were available with a number of body styles and an even greater number of engines. Everything from a thrifty 225cid I6 to the top dog... 440cid Hemi V8 were available. GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this unique one of a kind 1965 Coronet 500 for your consideration. Original sold as a 2 door hardtop coupe with a 273cid V8 in New Jersey. The car was well equipped from the factory, with an automatic transmission, black vinyl top, variable speed wipers, defrost, AM stereo, reverse lights, front bucket seats with console, and dealer installed side mirrors and undercoating. The car had a price tag of $3253.85. The car is well documented and has the original VIN tag and other original documents. Sometime later in the cars life it underwent a complete change of heart. A 426cid V8 Hemi engine was installed and the car became a whole new monster. The engine is original 1965 engine, complete with the original cast iron heads. The car was fitted with SS valves, bronze guildsm headed seals, new studded block, Aires forged pistons, Billit crankshaft and Beam rods. The 727 transmission was built by Mancini Racing and still has the original shifter. It is running a 8 ¾ rear end with 232 Sure Grip and disc/drum brake combo. The body is unique in that the exterior is in original condition. The exterior retains its original finish and has tons of patina. The car is very clean, with no rot and all of the trim and panels are complete apart from the side rub strips. The vinyl top is in good shape and the car rides on steel wheels with hubcaps and 225/255 tires front to rear. The engine bay is stunningly clean and has been powder coated, primed, and painted. The car also has power steering as well as MSD electronic ignition. The interior has been fully restored to factory condition, with excellent bucket seats and great upholstery from the doors to the headliner. The car turns heads wherever it goes and runs and drives very very well. A cool car with a cool story, there is nothing else like it.
