Classic 1979 Dodge D100 Custom step side short bed 2-wheel drive truck. Daily drive or repaint for a quality "factory" look truck. No cracks in nice blue interior with arguably the best blue exterior color for 79', PB3 Cadet Blue Poly or light metallic blue. This is a seldom seen truck with this engine combination and condition.
Approximately 2 years and 5000 miles on mechanical rebuild to include remanufactured motor by ATK thru Carquest, new radiator, tires, brakes, front rotors & bearings, tie rod ends, wheel alignment, front coil springs & shocks, steering box rebuild, complete exhaust system, all fuel & coolant hoses, front brake hoses, belts, fuel & water pumps, motor/trans mounts, battery and much more. Quality parts used like MOOG, GMB, MOPAR, FELPRO, WALKER & GATES. Complete L & R door seal kits, fuel sending unit, flex plate, non-lock up torque converter, transmission in/out seals and filter service. Includes new L & R upper/lower ball joints that will eventually need installation. Upgraded engine block to 1989 casting which includes factory roller cam & lifters and high flow swirl port heads still in the LA small block engine configuration (more power than 1979 version but still externally looks like 79' block which I could not find for rebuilding). Great running 318 with factory 4 bbl. carburetor, 727A auto transmission, manual or non-power brakes and steering make for much better curvy road handling and braking experience compared to typical vague feeling power steering & braking of 1970's Dodge trucks.Paint is old faded respray and primer withpatina surface rust. No rust rot. Excellent floor pans, doors, fenders, frame etc. Tires are 235/70/15 & 255/70/15 and smaller on front than back like the 1978 Little Red Express truck. Spare tire is not included. O.E. tires were LR78-15B on 6.5" x 15" inch rim in 5 x 4.5 lug pattern.
This 6000# GVWR truck was built in the low line Custom trim and few options were ordered new. First was the 318 4V motor (Calif. & Canada Only in this weight class), next was a automatic transmission and last was a sliding rear window. A cigar lighter, carpet and AM/FM radio are some factory options installed later on by me. Steering wheel is O.E. type from a 1979 Little Red Express truck. These were only for power steering vehicles and the manual steering wheel is 3 spoke and larger diameter, this one looks cooler. Significant effort and cost has been given to keeping and restoring truck to "factory correct" style condition. A few modifications have been kept like the custom rear step bumper, saddle blanket seat cover, aftermarket wheels and plywood bed floor.
This truck was manufactured for California and has the typical smog stuff like EVAP system, EGR and air pump. All systems are functional with EGR delay timer being the exception (30 second 'Black' timer box needs replacement). Faulty timer does not negatively affect emissions since it currently allows EGR operation immediately when started instead of pausing for 30 seconds then working. Current California registration and smog, vehicle will have a new smog if sold in California. Serviced and inspected 8 3/8" differential with 2.94gear ratio makes for easy highway cruising and spirited passing gear 4-barrel fun. OK gas mileage ranging from 10 to 15 MPG with 18-gallon tank.
Items that still need attention are the wood parts for the bed (everything necessary is available from LMC Truck online). Additionally, the carburetor accelerator pump has failed since rebuild so quick off-the-line acceleration is difficult until repaired, otherwise it is stall prone from a start without practice. I believe the ethanol in our fuel ruined the cup seal. This is the single thing that aggravated me so much and the reason I'm done and selling. At some point the Federal Safety Certification label and VIN tag were removed from the door pillar and lost. Original VIN is still how truck is registered but the label now looks different since it is a CHP replacement. O.E. similar tags are available on-line from a company in Texas. Heater core needs repair/replace. Windshield is original and shows wear. Seat cover is not factory style. Minor dents and scratches. Radio antenna is connected and laying behind seat and not installed on fender. Horn sound is weak and could use repair or replacement. Speedometer is noisy but works and has broken needle. I have the correct New Old Stock 85 mph speedometer for additional cost - just ask me about it. Factory original 22" radiator is included if desired but needs new core. If truck sits a few days the transmission fluid drains back into pan requiring a few seconds of circulation before gear engagement (typical of older Mopar units).
Full payment in cash or check required within 7 days and pick up required in 15 days or make arrangements. Sorry but vehicle/title stays until check clears. I'm a Mopar truck enthusiast selling one of my babies. Fun old school ride ready for years of reliable driving. You arrange shipping and I'll be available, shipping cost is not included in sale price. Sold as-is, where it is, with no warranty give or implied. Please ask as many questions as you want, I'm happy to answer and have lots of factory literature and experience. Expect nothing, if you can't come see it qualified inspectors are available. If special circumstances are necessary just contact me and I will consider them.
Thanks for looking.
