Real XS code Charger R/T
From the fender tag,
FJ5 sublime green (less than 400 chargers painted this color)
U code 440-375 HP V8 engine
727 Torqueflite automatic transmission
Bucket seats
Console
Black vinyl top
Power front disc brakes
26 inch radiator
Etc.
As you can see the car is now black with no vinyl top. You can still see the original sublime green in places (firewall, floorpans, trunk, etc.) The 440 V8 engine and 727 Tourqueflite trans. have been rebuilt. The engine casting number is 2536430. The 8 3/4 rear end houses 3.23 gears. The car has power brakes (disc on front drums on rear) and power steering. Factory rally gauge cluster with tachometer. Hideaway headlights work great. I recently replaced the following items (within last 6 months),
Oil change with new filter
spark plugs
air filter
fuel filter
belts
upper and lower radiator hoses
coolant
flasher switch
brake light switch
battery cable
new American Racing Torq thrust wheels
power brake booster
brake master cylinder
wheel cylinders and hardware on rear
etc.
The body on this car is super solid. It appears that the quarter panels were replaced back when the color change was done. The rest of the car was rust free to include the floor pans, rockers, trunk, frame rails, torque boxes, etc. The panel gaps are decent and the doors shut nicely. The chrome and stainless trim is good as is all of the glass. The paint shines up very well as evidenced by the pics of the car. I would rate the overall paint and general appearance of the car as "driver quality." It gets a lot of attention at local events but is certainly not Barrett Jackson quality. The car looks really cool going down the road and is fun to drive. The motor runs very well and the transmission shifts perfectly. The tires are in great shape and the brakes have lots of new components. The rear drums and or parking brake still need some adjustment.
Overall, this is real R/T with lots of collector appeal and value due to the rare color that someone will paint it back to one day. It is very difficult to find these Chargers now that aren't rusted out hulls. This car will prove to be an easy restoration for someone or just enjoy it as it is and watch it appreciate in value over the coming years. I have recently acquired a 69 Charger and don't have the room or money to keep both so one of them unfortunately has to go. I have the fender tag and clear and clean title for this car. I also have the original keys too. Don't miss this nice and rare Charger. I have a video walk around of the car and one that shows the car being driven.
