1972 Dodge Charger Special Edition Additional Info:
Before get into the car itself, I will explain why it is 'rare car first. 1972 was when this charger and 74,000 other Chargers were made that year, a little Over 21,000 were 'SE' optioned. Now take into of all those cars, only 720 Special Edition Chargers were made with the high performance 440 engine option. Now let's talk factory power sunroofs option. Out of a total production of Chargers, only 488 were ordered with it. Out of the SE models, 398 were so equipped. From info I've found so far, it's possible that only 62 '440' cars were optioned this way. To add more unique and rare on how this car is, a lot of options were added besides the sunroof. This car come with besides SE trim option and sunroof, power steering, power disc brakes, air conditioning, 440 cooling and suspension, swaybar package, electronic ignition, automatic transmission, hideaway headlights, Rallye dash w/150 speedo w/clock, am/fm radio, floor mount console recorder, rear window defroster, 8 3/4 rearend, tilting steering column, dual chrome mirrors, 440 emblem call outs for The front fenders, front top fender turn signal indicators, Rimblow steering wheel, dash curtesy ligh, tinted glass and power windows! But wait, there is more. Being the factory black interior and bench seat are nice condition and very comfortable on road trips, looks great while surrounded by the special order dark metallic silver paint makes this combination with the black vynle top and SE chrome package, makes for an incredible stunning look on this car. Making this car back into a premium piece won't be hard since it's nearly rust free and not needing tons of replacement parts. A real 1-of-1 car. Clean trunk, floors, frame rails, fenders and such will save you thousands of dollars in repair Costs and cutting restoration time down considerably. Dent in radiator support but can be pushed back without cutting. Steering column is currently separated from dash as keys locked in column were not working and so we could steer car into place. Original 440 is missing and another 440 has been sitting in it for years. 727 transmission may not be correct, have not seen numbers on it to confirm it, but I do have more good news as the fender tag, vin tags, door tag, radiator support, cowl stamping and build sheet are all correct with this car. Yes, this car is probably one of the better restoration cars on Craig's. if you look around at similar cars, those are listed for $40k/$50k range. That's crazy money for a car, this project is much cheaper and comes factory HP radiator 26in heavy duty cooling, and a few extra parts. Price is now $reduced to $9,500.00 Have clean pink slip in hand. located in San Jose, CA. pm for info. 100 pics can be seen at imagur link below.
