It's hard not to get excited about this 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T. After all, it has its original 440 V8 still under the hood, the paint is its correct High Impact color, and even the interior is a time capsule. So you have all this appeal even before you remember how fewer cars Chrysler built than it's Big Three counterparts.
FC7 just a small code, but it makes Mopar people quite happy. Having it on the fender tag of this Challenger, means that it's wearing its correct Plum Crazy color. But more than just a bold representation of a sought-after color, you can tell there were all the right investments when this coupe was restored. That's why the panel gaps are uniform, the doors close with authority, and the consignor says this is all original sheetmetal. Plus, it has all the right aggressive touches for an R/T such as the dual scoop hood, hood pins, extra wide Go-Wing rear spoiler, and the full-length side stripes. But more than just sporty, this one has premium flair, too. There are the mirror-like chromed bumpers, a black vinyl roof, and bright Rallye wheels to round the full Mopar icon package.
The black vinyl interior is the right choice to complement the vinyl roof. The high-back bucket seats have a nice intricate pattern that is in superior condition thanks to an investment during restoration. And the moment you slip inside, you realize just how much Dodge wanted to surround the driver. This is a center console car with the gear selector perfectly molded into the contoured setup. Plus, flanking the sporty three-spoke steering wheel are your controls for heat/defrost and original-style AM radio that's still on display. Everything in this one seems quite correct, right down to the full Rallye gauge that includes a large speedo and tach. So it all feels like a time capsule with the best of 1970 on display.
As much as you love everything else on this Challenger, what you in the engine bay will make you weak in the knees. The callouts on the hood were not lying, this really is powered by the almighty Magnum 440 cubic-inch V8.... And it's the numbers-matching motor! This presentation looks great and runs great, too, thanks to a rebuild during restoration. More than just having the original famous performance big block, this one is enhanced with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, and so you get the kind of wicked rumble from the dual exhaust that lets everyone know you've got some serious power in this Plum Crazy machine. More than just pure muscle, one midnight cruise in this Challenger, and you'll be thankful for features like the three-speed automatic transmission, power brakes, and power steering.
Complete with owner's manual, this is an iconic muscle machine that has been restored in all the right places, and kept original where it matters the most. A desirable and correct classic like this is rarely available. So don't miss out, call today!
